Question about 2000 Chrysler Cirrus
2000 Chrysler Cirrus: I was just informed by my mechanic that the heater cable to adjust the temperature of the air coming from the heater is broken and the entire dash must be removed to replace the cable. Is that the only solution? The temperature indicator on the car is working normally, the engine is heating normally, the heater core is working normally, the broken cable means that the air is not allowed to circulate around the core and then heat the passenger compartment of the car.
I'm reading the instructions at autozone.com, and I don't see anything about removing the dash. You do have to pull out the trim around the control unit and unscrew the unit to get to the back of it, but I don't see why you can't get to all the cables and doors by sticking your head under the dash. If I were you, I would do it myself. This would be about a 1 hr job for me. Maybe a little longer if I was new at it...let me know if you want me to copy the instructions and send them on.
