Vent selection not working After the transmission was rebuilt

They are controlled by vacuum ... a line must have been disconnected or broken when the trans was replaced. Remove the dog house and look for a small vacuum line broken or pulled apart.

On 1995 gmc safari we had a new compressor installed about 3 years ago and didnt have it charged. We added 134a (2) cans and the clutch isnt kicking on. we checked all the fuses and it seems to be holding...

Make sure the low pressure switch on the dryer is plugged up,and the connector on the clutch of the ac compressor, then the problem, might be the low pressure switch, jump the two wires going to it to find out.Rate if you would, thank you.

The front wheels on my 2003 Safari AWD are not engaging and the AWD light does not come on the dash when I turn the key on. Also the air only comes out the defroster vents no matter what I put the setting...

i do not know if the to are conected but i do not think so as far as the heater defrost problem you proberley have a vacume line off the engine it is a small hose as far as the awd sounds like a fuse or a bad module

Once in a while my 2003 gmc safari will not start. i turn the key, here a click but engine will not crank. I wait for a while then starts normally. van has only 35,000 miles. could starter be bad already?

Could be bad starter. Miles don't matter, only how many times you start the car. I would first check for corroded or loose connections between battery and starter solenoid..

Air out defrost only

The vacuum line is not connected or broken. You will find one plastic line under the hood, it will have a break in it somewhere.

I have a 2004 M-Van with a 4.3 V-6. The heat, defrost, AC control seems to be stuck. No matter which position is selected, air comes out of all outlets equally. I suspect it is either a vacuum problem...

I would say you are correct thinking its a vacuum problem. On my '98 Safari, I had the same problem and found a plastic vacuum line inside the engine compartment had touched something hot and melted a small hole in it. I was able to cut the bad part out of the vacuum line and splice it with a small piece of rubber hose whose inside diameter was just smaller than the ouside diameter of the vacuum line. It's been running for two years with no further problems.
