Question about 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier

1 Answer

I am going to be doing some maintenance on my 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier Coupe 2.2 4 cylinder , and want to do all of the routine stuff to ensure it's working well. However, Since i'm not a car buff im a bit confused on the different parts, although i think i am getting the right ones. I know for routine you do oil changes, which i've done, but also spark plugs and wires, which is coming up very soon. I've looked around and Bosch platiunum 4 seem to be a pick for quite a few people. But i have no idea? Does anyone have suggestions for the products i need as well as brand name and type?

The bosh platinum 4 are good plugs but i think a little expensive for you, that is your choice , but i don't think you will get any advantage save for longer plug life, do the basic oil and filter, air filter, fuel filter, add a bottle of injection cleaner to the tank, pcv valve, you should be good to go

This is usually caused by a leaking wheel cylinder allowing brake fluid on the brake shoes. The wheel cylinder actuates the brake pads when the brake pedal is depressed and only can be inspected by removing the brake drums.

RECHECK#2 SPARKPLUG, PULL IT OUT AND INSPECT THE GAP TO MAKE SURE IT'S NOT BENT SHUT, IF PLUG IS OK MAKE SURE WIRE BOOT IS ON SECURELY, IF THATS OK THEN SUSPECT A FAULT COIL.

2002 cavalier won't start. 2 months ago changed the fuel pump thinking it was that. It turns over but doesn't turn on.

First step, is it getting spark, and is it getting fuel to the injectors, and are they "firing" the fuel into the cylinders?

1993 chevy cavalier 2.2l 4 c. sparks and wire order

it fires 1-3-4-2. The coil pack is marked 1-4, match them up with your cylinders, and you're good to go! Cylinder 1 is on the front of the engine, the side opposite from the transmission. Find your alternator and that's at cylinder 1.
