Question about 2000 Chevrolet Malibu
If it does not open from the inside or the outside then chances are the lock/latch assembly is jammed. In order to get the door open the inside door trim will most likely need to be at lest partially removed to access the inner workings of the door. This is no easy task as the panel is designed to be removed with the door open. If care and patience are used this can generally be done without major damage to the inside door trim panel.

You should write a more detailed description but it could possibly be the pin in the hunge that keeps the door propped open, that could be jammer or if the handle/latch is the part that isnt opening then get in through the passenger side and pop off the door panel to the drivers side door and make sure the lines are connected from the door handle to the latch, and if you were in an accident recently depending on the severity it could be a bent frame/door depending where hit
