Question about 2005 Land Rover LR3

Open Question

I have an LR3 05 SE. My issue is I start up the vehicle and as soon as I step on the brake I receive HDC fault, transmission fault, suspension fault, the brake light comes on (amber not red) Triangle with Exclamation point inside. Usually when this happens the suspension lowers and all special programs are unavailable. Note: this is initiated when you step on the brake peddle. If you shut the vehicle off and restart it they all seemingly clear. I removed the switch that is released when you step in on the brake to see if that was the cause, but when i stepped on the brake peddle it still caused the fault, independent of the switch that is attached to the brake peddle arm. Any thoughts?

Hello and welcome to FixYa!
As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you remove the positive battery connector and let it sit for atleast 5mins. before reconnecting it. This will reset the system and can get rid of the fault codes. You may just have system failure and reconnecting the positive battery connector can resolve the problem. Be sure that the body grounds are tight as well specially the negative battery connector.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

I have pulled trans pan on 1996 sunfire but still dont see shift silinoids.where are they hiding?

Most of the shift solenoids are located under the "side" pan of the transmission, not the underside transmission pan. The side pan is difficult to access and might best be handled by someone who has removed this type of cover before.

Why is there a scraping noise in the rear end when turning left or right?

you do not say what the vehicle is John. I would say that the vehicle has got to go up for a look see.

The sound of scraping when turning either way indicates a fault with a shared component or the same fault with the same compnent on both sides.
might be that the wheel bearings are worn and you have distorted disks that scrape against the brake pads because there is play in the wheels.
Micht be a suspension issue of some kind but without the id of your vehicle it is hard to say.
A visit to a suspension/brake specialist is probably adviseable

hope it is not the diff

Vehicle battery dead. 2006 lr3. replaced battery good for 2 days, rained tuesday, by tuesday p.m. several error lights occurred. transmission failure, hdc fault sys not avail, amber brake light stays on...

think your battery went dead again and not on it's own accord. I suspect you have charging system problem (alternator/belt issue) For the 2 days that new battery was in, it was running on battery power.
Solution, just start truck - take it to GOOD autoparts store and have them do FREE charging system test for you. Re; all the lights and error messages, that's a normal response to a low voltage/not enough power to run all the accessories and ignition on your rig. I have 2002 Discovery - been there, done that.. hope above helps...
