Hi I am looking to replace the starter on my 1999 subaru outback legacy. I was searching for some guidance / advice. I have limited expertise on car repairs. Thank you in advance.

this is a fairly easy task. disconnect the battery cables on the batttery remove the + cable from the starter and the ignition signal wire these bolt onto the starter remove the 2 bolts holding the starter to the transmission install is the reverse of the above if you feel like saving a few $$ and the solenoid is still working. disassemble the starter just 2-4 bolts and change the worn out contacts for the motor. most parts stores will have them they are small copper 'L' shaped pieces and cost $5-7 total

My 2000 subaru outback 4 cylender car slips when put into drive, I'm not sure if I filled the correct location with the new fluid, are there separate fill locations for the front diff and tranny??

yes there are ,transmission fluid dipstick is on drivers side near starter, diff is on passenger side. if you just drained the pan the trans should take about 4 quarts of fluid, diff will take just about 1 quart of 80-90 w
