My car stop on me 2 weeks ago. It made a loud squeeking sound before it cut off on me. I changed spark plugs wire, belt, battery, & starter. It turned over for about 5 seconds and cut off, it hasn't turned over since. Now when trying to start it, it makes a charge like sound, like it wants to start but it doesn't. What could be the possible problem?

Have you checked the timing belt, or tried to turn the engine backwards by hand with a socket and T bar, don't forget to leave the ign. off. if it turns try and turn it one and a half times round. If it turns backwards one turn or nearly you might have bent a valve

Car not starting, whirring once ignition engaged

Check the obvious. Shift to park (also try neutral) If you jump from the battery to the starter directly if it turns then you may need to replace the solenoid. It may also be an ignition that needs to be replaced.

I have a 2004 Ford Ranger 2WD 3.0L V6 automatic. A few days ago I noticed a "squeek squeek squeek" when the truck is idling. When you tach up, it gets faster and then goes away or is just...

I was going to go with the idler pulley as well, but the engine codes threw me off. Try this.
Ohm all the injectors any that are way out of line replace. I've used a small screwdriver with a light bulb in the handle slide the tip along side the wire and check for spark on all cylinders. I've also used an ohm meter and checked the wires it normally runs appx. 1/2 scale.
Take a compression test a bad lifter or valve can cause problems.
Use a can of carb. cleaner and spray along the edges of the intake manifold.
If the engine smooths out you have a leak at this point. Its always possible a gasket is pinched or you have a small crack.
Bad injector wires also cause misfires.

Starting issue with a 1991 dodge dakota with a 318 v8. I have replaced spark plugs, plug wires, cap and rotor, and now the coil pack after I had the truck stall out and would not start 3 weeks ago. Now...

You may have a bad engine ground to the frame. Check & clean any ground wire connections. Also there may be a ballast resistor mounted on the firewall &/Or the starter that has cracked. This will only allow the truck to start in dry conditions. Make sure your red starter cable is not frayed & in good condition & clean the connections at the battery & starter. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Just a click away, NOT!

Starter solenoid most likely. Check the connections on the solenoid and the starter itself.

Car won't start, new battery, starter ok, just won't kick over Saturn 2004, 80,000 miles, oil change 2 months ago,

If the starter/Battery are ok.Check for spark by pulling off a sparkplug wire, have someone try to start hold wire near sparkplug tip you'll hear the spark jump to the plug tick..tick..tick..sound.Be carefull to hold wire just far enough to hear spark, also this is the secondary circuit from the coil it's high voltage wear a glove. If you smell gas youre geting gas if no spark it is 1 of the following.Bad Coil, or ignition modulator, crack in distributer, cracked wires that cause spark to not reach plugs.Good Luck.

Truck stalls when I give it gas

It sounds like they have got the distributor out of time. You will need to adjust the distributor. That is what it sounds like.

The engine seems to be making a sputtering noise

Amelia, we just bought one off a lease 5 weeks ago (purchased from a dealer). We are having the same symptoms, suddenly, as you describe.

Took it back to the dealership. After a bit of drama, they agreed to foot the repair bill ($1000). It was a broken distributer cap and wiring which should have been replaced before it was resold to us. What a pain.
