The code you mentioned is a general code for problems with the fuel injection system. It could mean that the fuel pressure regulator is faulty, or something is wrong with the fuel pump or the fuel injectors

What is code reader compared to scanner what does each one do

Code reader just reads codes. Won't give you live data. Only a scan tool can do that. But you can read the codes of a 1990 vehicle with just a paper clip and counting the check engine light flashes. Very little live data was available back in 1990. Buying a scan tool for that car would be a waste of money.

Reseting a check engine light after a repair

Sometimes taking off both battery terminals and holding them together for say 5 minutes can help. A diagnostic tool is a more reliable option, bring up the code and erase it. Erasing codes will take off the check engine light. Provided the problem has been eliminated it shouldn't come bacK on.

I have a 99 Buick century . And the code reads p0118 my check engine light stays on. I just had my hose changed what could be the reason for this .

this is an obd2 trouble code table, it can help you understand the meaning of code.
and for this code, you can try this:
First, if you have access to a scan tool, check the reading of the coolant sensor. Does it read a logical number? If so, the problem is likely intermittent. Perform a "wiggle" test by wiggling the connector and harness to the sensor while watching the reading on the scan tool. Watch for any drop-outs. Drop-outs would indicate a bad connection. If the scan tool reads an illogical temperature, check the resistance of the temperature sensor. If it is out of specs, replace it. If it is in specifications, unplug the sensor and, using a fused jumper wire, jumper the two terminals of the connector together. The temperature reading should now be maxed out to above 250 degrees F. If not, there is likely a problem with the ground circuit or voltage supply.
Check for 5 volts reference voltage at the connector. Also check for ground presence at the connector. If you do not have 5V ref. and/or ground continuity, check for these back at the PCM connector. If you have these at the PCM connector, then repair open or short between the PCM and the sensor. If you do not, remove the offending wire from the PCM and then check for proper voltage at the PCM pin. If it's present now, repair short on the circuit. If it isn't present after removing the wire and checking the pin, replace PCM
NOTE: Usually, P0118 is indicative of a bad temperature sensor, but doesn't rule out these other possibilities. If you're unsure of how to diagnose a PCM, do not attempt.

2005 chevy colorade check engine light comes on in warm weather and goes off in cool or cold weather.this has happen several times

Has this problem come shortly after refuelling? Do you live in a humid climate? 9 times out of 10 this is a result of the gas cap. Failing that, can you get your hands on a OBD 2 tool or go to your dealer and have them scan the truck. The Check Engine Light throws a code and the OBD2 tool reads that code. The code points to the problem.

Code 1345 came up. I already replaced wires, plugs, cam, crank sensors.

have you tried setting the cam sync.its basically setting the timing but without a timing light.you need a scan tool to do it.rev engine and hold at 1000 rpm.read the cam sync on the scan tool.should be 0 degrees.if not loosen distributor bolt and turn distributor till cam sync reads 0.also you may have a worn distributor.

Engine code in my 1999 mercedesE320 is PO173 what

Hi, both codes indicates a bad Mass Air Flow Sensor..
The airmass meter is a common problem. CRC makes an aerosol "Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner" that you can try to use to clean sensor. It is located in the intake hose between the air filter housing and the throttle body.

Take care
