Check engine light came on today on my 2002 Saab 9-5 2.3 Turbo. I have no clue why? Also, when I started it up this morning it said on the display [REAR LIGHT FAILURE]. Any solutions?

Have you solved this problem? I got 2001 Saab 9-3 yesterday and it well passed annual check, while yesterday night when I drove it arond, the engine light went on without any problem with car`s function. I searched and found many owners solved this case permanently by disconnect battary and let computer reset.

The simple one, you have a rear light blown. As for the check the engine light "you would need to get the code checked, that any Saab dealer can get by plugging a device into your car, and from there the problem will be narrowed down" sorry I cant be more specific but that light can come on for a multitude of reasons. :-(

Ok, those systems might still work because the not require as much energy as the starter. Check the Battery Voltage with a good Voltmeter. If below 12, there might be your problem!

My 2002 saab 9-5 shakes and sputters for about

Water on any electrical part of the engine can cause problems. Even high humidity. The only parts you can easily check and dry out is the plug wires where they connect to the coils and any connections you can find where components are plugged into wiring a harness.

2002 saab 9-5 with 95,500 miles has check engine ligt on. oil was changed 3 weeks ago. I drove the car Saturday morning w/o any problems for 20 minutes. 2 hours later when I was leaving again the light...

The message light does not check all internal systems.

Have someone at a local parts store do a free code scan for you, this will tell you what code is making the light come on, and what that code indicates is wrong.
