Question about 2001 Volkswagen Passat

I have a 2001.5 VW Passat. Within the past three months, I replaced the oil pump and before i replaced the coolant hoses it overheated. Before I replaced the hoses, I made sure that it stayed with coolant. Could you help me.

Hi, have you changed the coolant thermostat. you can check this by taking out the thermostat boil it in an old pot and if it OPENS it is o.k.. or bleed the system of coolant take the highest coolant pipe off WHEN COLD and lower it down if flowing then the coolant pump is working. the radiator could be blocked. the engine coolant pump fins can corode (this can warm the coolant too), need to check if coolant is ciculating. the coolant dies after 3 years. gerry

I do not know exactly how the on and off switch turn work but check the cable connection from, to it main switch last. clog heater core. bad thermostat. tuff job. check hoses and make sure no air or space inside the hoses instead of coolant..

Car overheating

You may have a blown engine head gasket. Check your oil to see if it is milky because water is getting into the oil, and check the water to see if oil is getting into the coolant.
If you have either of these, you may need to have a new head gasket for the engine, and hopefully you do not have a cracked engine head.
This will require a fair bit of work to fix correctly. Your local garage or mechanic may be your next call.
There are some products you can use in the coolant for either of these, but it is only a temporary fix.

Hello There

It's the water pump. One of the most common problems with the VW/Audi's. It was never the head.

Hope this helps. Please don't forget to rate me.

Could be just the OIL COOLER. VW IS CORRECT.
If the oil cooloer fails internely you will have a mix of coolant and oil. In the engine and in the Radiator,

Hi

If the coolant temperature sensor is of the 4 wire type then these are a common failure on VW's.
