Hi Friend: Your Fuel Filter is Located at your Fuel Pump Assembly,In your Fuel Tank, On your vehicle the fuel filter does not require that it be replaced like one that is outside the fuel tank.

You might check your fuel pressure regulator or injectors.

My GMC Sierra ran out of gas and now I can't get it to stay running.

Fuel injectors require a high pressure fuel pump which is located in the gas tank. The gas serves as the lubricant for the pump, so wen you ran out and emptied the tank completely you no longer had lubricant and the pump burn out. It won't pump gas now because it's the fuel pump is burned out and needs replacing. It runs when you put fuel in the injectors as that bypasses the pump. Replace the pump and the never let the tank get below 1/8th full (half a 1/4 of a tank). Not lie the old low pressure fuel pumps on the side of the engine blocks. Not cheap to buy a fuel pump and have to drop the tank to replace the burned out one. $$$ in costs even it you do it yourself.

Car won't stay started

check air filter to see if it is clogged. if it isn't check your fuel filters. you have one on the fire wall and one underneath the car on the driver side connecting the engine to the gas tank. open your truck, uncover the inside right fender panel, push the button on the switch and release the button. the button should pop out. the button has wires going to it. it is attached to the well wall under the cover you removed. try to start your car several timestil it will not even try to start. this release the gas pressure in your gas line. now you can replace both filters. after you replaced both gas filters, push the button in to reset it. try to start your engine, pump the gas pettle several times while you are cranking the engine. this will put gas pressure back in your gas line and into your engine. the gas filters should be changed according to manufacture time requirements. call ford parts department and ask how often the gas filters should be changed. any other information can be obtained at any auto parts company. try this first and hope it's not your fuel pump. your fuel pump is inside the gas tank. my fuel pump part caused $300. i recommend you buy it from ford. you don't want any gas leaks and ford will match it up if you need it.

Gas filter for Nissan Altima2006

Like many late model cars the fuel system in this car doesn't use an in line filter anymore, this has been the case since the early 2000's, so there is no part number. The only filter in the system is the fine mess nylon screen at the intake to the fuel pump inside the gas tank.

Installed new fuel pump because car had old gas in tank. removed tank and completly drained it. replaced tank and installed new fuel pump and fuel filter. put about 6 gallons of gas in car. have tried to...

Okay, you need to make sure the fuel pump is getting power and that you have the lines hooked up correctly. Also, when you replace fuel pumps you need to remove the air cleaner and use starter fluid to get the engine started.

Car ran out of gas, now cannot get started

After you've added fuel to the car it may be necessary to prime the system. Do this by turning the key to the on position (not start), wait for 5 seconds, the turn the key off. Do this 3 times, as long as there are no other issues it will start right up.
** You should hear a faint humming sound indicating the fuel pump is working

I have a 1996 Mercury Villager (Canadian version) with 60 K miles. Sometimes when starting, the engine turns but it wont start. When this situation occurs, I usually try to start again while pressing on...

I would definitely consider the fuel pump. I had long turnover times before starting for years, but even worse was in hot weather it would just stall while driving. Sometimes it would only idle, but not run if you pressed the gas very far. Park it for 20-30 minutes and it would run again without another problem for weeks. Dealers and mechanics kept replacing other things like ignition coils and distributors. After a conversation where someone said they had the same problem, but only when they had less than half a tank of fuel, I knew it was the pump. I replaced it myself and all problems went away.
The fuel leaks back down to the tank and air gets in the lines. Then the pump is slow to build pressure up again. If you turn the key on, but not start, wait 45 seconds, off, on again but not start, wait again, now start it will take a little less time to start, less battery drain, until you fix the problem.
You may not have the heat problem in Canada. But here in Georgia it gets hot enough that if the fuel tank is low and the pump has this problem, it will overheat and shut down till it cools. A full tank helps it keep the pressure up and serves to cool the pump.

Kia optima2006 2.4 L where is the fuel filter

The fuel filter is apart of the fuel pump in the gas tank, It's considered at life time filter which means you don't need to replace it unless there is a problem with your fuel pressure or the fuel pump has gone bad and needs to be replaced. The filter it self can be replaced from the fuel pump sending unit, but the filter is a dealer item and the access panel is under the back seat to get to the fuel pump assembly with out dropping the gas tank. Good luck and hope this helps., be glad to help
