Question about 2001 Dodge Durango

1 Answer

2002 Dodge Durango. Not blowing cold air. Think we found problem with electric fan. It does not run constantly when ac is on. It comes on when temp goes high and stays on for a few minutes and then kicks back off. It repeats this cycle the whole time the vehicle is idling. Why is the fan cutting of and not running the whole time as it should?

It is definately the ac blower fan. The ac is not cool at the front or rear of the vehicle. We checked the freon and it was fine. Yhe problem seems to be the fan not cintinually running when the ac is on. It will for a few minutes and then just stop and then continue when the temp rises. We could what it do this when were were trying to check the freon.

Hi.

The fan is probably cutting off because of a defective fan relay. f the fan motor is not starting at all, then problem is fan resistor. If cooling is generally poor, then the AC is probably low in freon. Check if there is cold air at the back of the vehicle. I If problem is restricted to the front compartment and the back is cooling, then it is not the thermostat. In that case the problem is expansion valve.
Ensure that we are talking about the AC blower fan, and not about the engine cooling fan here.

    Hi.

Check the A/C clutch relay. A defective relay may cut off immediately after the AC starts. Here the spare.

    Here fuse map
, the relay should be in power distribution center.

Dual air. The actuator is bad. It is between the fire wall and HVAC plenum. The dash has to be removed along with the plenum. Costly job at the garage.

I have a 2000 - the rear air is just a blower - it's not hooked up to the actual AC - just blows the cold air from front to the back

Front Blower

ok, missed the part about the rear ac working, the part that causes this is called the air temperature control blend door actuator motor, it is an electric motor driven gear drive that moves the plastic door inside the air ducking to mix or shut off the hot or cold air from the ac evaporator core or the heater core, you will need to replace it.

I have a 2002 Toyota Corolla Le and everytime my car is at stop sign my aircondition starts blowing out hot air but, once the car is moving the air starts back blowing cold. Do you know what might cause...

Make sure your fans are running. It sounds like your fans are not working all the time. With the AC on the fans should run constantly. Check fan relays and fuses.
