One of the door switches is bad.each door has one youll have to jump each one, one at a time including the rear hatch to find the problem. (when I say jump I mean that that you will have th connect the 2 lead wires to the switch, this completes the circuit and turns out the interior lights)

Front area dome lights won't turn off killing battery life. where is the relay for this?

Can you manually turn them off by moving the selector switch on the dome to "off" position? If not, the length of time that the dome lights were on may have melted the selector switch and you cannot turn them off except by removing the bulb...and replacing the switch or dome light.......

There are two relays that keep accessory power on after you turn the key off and close the door. One of them may be stuck on.
You may need a shop manual to find and test them.

Battery being drained while not running.1988 Ford Ranger.

The best thing i found to do is take off the NEGITIVE TERMINAL of the battery and hook up a test lite between the battery post and battery cable. This will light up if there is a drain on the system. If it does then this will let u narrow it down to where it is. If it don't light up then the battery is bad, have the battery tested at ADVANCED AUTO its free.

Dome lights come on and stay on when the truck is started and can not manually shut them off? Kills the battery. pulled the F10 fuse for now but what could have caused the change. Randomly it will allow me...

It's probably the headlight switch, but your truck has an odd bit of circuitry. Is there a switch on the glovebox that turns on some of the dome lights? Look around for that and try opening and closing the glovebox to see if it affects the dome lights. If it does, maybe adhusting the latch would help.

My Chevy Optra does not shut off when I turn the ignition off. Two dealers have checked it out and can not find a trouble code. It is 2005

I had a 2006 Chevy Optra that wouldn't shut off as well. When I opened the door it would turn off but as soon as the door was closed the dash lights would come on dim and kill the battery if left long enough. If i pulled the I/P fuse in the engine compartment fuse box it would solve the problem but it killed the dome light as well. Pulling the cluster fuse or the wiper fuse from the i/p fuse box had the same was a real stumper as alldata had no listing for a 2006 Chevrolet Optra so I couldn't find any wiring schematics at all. I did a bit more research and found that the Suzuki Forenza is the same car. i got a wiring schematic and found out that the dome light module/key-in buzzer is actually in the dome light itself. I unplugged the dome light/module and jumped the orange(batt +) to the pink(ign) that comes directly from the I/P fuse and the car would stay running after i turned the ignition off. I cut the pink wire and installed a diode so that battery voltage couldn't backfeed to the I/P fuse. It's been three days now and every time i turn the ignition off the car shuts off, just like it's supposed to. A faulty dome light module seems to be the problem and a $3 diode fixes it. The people that own the car have spent hundreds of dollars trying to figure this problem out and didn't want to spend another $250 for a module. I hope this helps somebody as it seems to be a popular problem.

Dome lights turn off too soon

i believe they are controlled by the BCM so that may be why they are shutting down too soon!!
either that or maybe your battery voltage is low, and when that happens the BCM or ECM will auto shut them off to conserve the battery!!
so go get your battery tested first!!!

When I shut off the ignition the radio and dome light stayed on

I have the same truck. The thing is designed so that the radio and dome light and even the windows will operate for a time which should expire immediately when you open the door. Try turning on the radio with engine running and then turn off the engine and just sit there and the radio should still play. Try the power windows - they too should go up and down. Finally open the drivers door and that should immediately kill the radio, windows and dome light. If it does not - you will need to report that problem to your dealer since the problem is in that timer feature which is part of the vehicles "brain". Sorry I can't be more helpful.
