If you do indeed have ann internal pump, you will have to empty the tank of fuel, disconect the positive cable to the battery (so as not to blow yourself up) Disconnect any hoses1-1/2" filler hose and 1/2" supply hose remove the tank and then remove the fuel pump. I would first make sure that the pump is inside of the tank by calling parts supply store, they can tell you for sure. Hope this helps

The fuel pump went out in my 2003 pontiac grand am what parts will i need and do i have to drop the tank

Fuel pump and New Seal for sure are needed. Make sure it isn't the relay or a fuse before before you go through this. As far as dropping the tank that will depend on how full that tank is and if you have enough room to work with it mounted. This is usually a pretty easy pull because there is one locking collar and once that is released you can pull that pump.

When putting gas in the tank of 2009 F150, the gas overflows when the gauge shows only 5/8 full. I cannot fill the tank.Any suggestions

Tank is full. The level swith is bad. Have to pull the bed to get to the fuel pump. Pump and fload is all in one. If you work on this yourself, replace the whole unit with Ford parts, do not use after market it will not last. If under warranty just go to dealer. Good luck..

2001 beetle gas guage not working.. ho w do I determine if it is just the gauage or the sensor in the tank

Guages rarely go bad. the level switch goes out all the time. all makes all models. To check you can pull the plug by the tank, there will be 3 or 4 wires. I don't know what the color cdes are, but put a jump wire between the black (ground) and the other colored wires. ( this wont hurt anything) One is for the pump the other is for the level switch. When you ground the level switch is will jump to full. This tells you that the switch is bad. You can't buy the switch by itself, it comes as a unit with the fuel pump. Costly.

not sure what your back half of the question is but the flue pump is in the gas tank, you have to pull the tank. a little hint the tank weights a lot less empty then full.

My 1990 5.0 HO lx hatchback needs a fuel pump. is it in the gas tank? and do i need the hanger assembly?

Yes, it's in the tank. Whether to buy the hanger depends on whether your fuel gauge works properly. If the gauge doesn't work right, and your gauge sender (also in the tank) is bad, then it may be more economical to buy the whole in-tank assembly with pump, sender, and hanger. If the pump failure was caused by corrosion, be sure to clean out the tank well, and maybe even replace the tank! Good luck!

Says gas is empty but when at the pump its stops filling.some gas exits back from the tank, I figure its my pin any way to find out if im full or not?

What Pin? Your sending unit is most likely worn out,on a 19 year old vehicle. Pull gas tank and replace complete assy, fuel pump and all, while your there.

At 75,000 miles my 04Avalon gas tank will only fill 3/4 full. The gas pump cuts off and Ican keep clicking it for about 50 times to try continue filling the tank. Is there some remedy for this?

The float on your fuel pump is not working right the only cure is to replace the float not pump just the float and you will need to drop the fuel tank to do so.

What would cause the low fuel warning light to come on? The fuel gauge shows full and tank is full.

The float in the tank may be bad or stuck. The sending unit could also be bad. Either way, you're gonna have to pull the fuel pump out of the tank.

Gas gauge seldom reaches full

your fuel tank has a float on the inside with the fuel pump. The float tells your guage where to read. You could check your releif hose on your tank to see if it is clogged . if it doesn,t get air out as fuel goes in it will cause the gas pump to kick off as it thinks your tank is full. when filling up just pull the pump nossel out some and see it that helps
