Question about 1994 Jaguar XJ6

1 Answer

I just bought a 1993 xj6 and 3 days after bought it want to crank it tries to turnover just won't start. I started turning the ignition on and off trying to crank it pushing gas and it started. 2 days later today it will not crank at all now tried all day. I tryed and replace the fuel filter that wasn't it. i'm pretty sure i hear the fuel pump kick on but not sure could just be antenna motor. so I disconnected the fuel line from the rail and there is gas in it. i guess next should check for spark?? any help would be greatly appreciated!

Joe,
If you are sure the fuel is reaching the cylinders then checking the (blue) spark is the next logical check. Also check if the battery is fully charged.A strong battery is what rotates the engine fast enough to start. But it seems to be a fuel problem as you said you had to pump the gas pedal to start on the first problem day. Can you disconnect the antenna motor to see if the pump is indeed working. You can connect it later on.

87 Ford ranger will not crank. it will turnover but will not crank. i changed the sylanoed but still won't crank

Turning over & cranking is the same thing

Check for fuel pressure at motor with a gauge
when you turn the key on

Check for spark or injector pulse when cranking

If the motor won't turn at all, check relays & possible
bad starter,neutral sw,ignition sw

2004 chevy tahoe won't turnover or start by being jumped

The ignition start circuit is the path from the ignition key in cranking mode to the solenoid on the starter. The path travels through a starter relay and a neutral safety switch before it reaches the starter.
This must be the circuit not working on your car.Make sure battery and starter connections are tight.Check for power at the starter solenoid terminal with a testlight when someone turns key to crank. If you have power there, they sold you a defective starter. If you have no power there then it could be the relay or the neutral safety switch.

1993 form tempo will start great most of the time, intermittenly it will refuse to "hit a lick" and will not start, battery turnover is not the problem, crankin is great... it just refuses to...

i just had a similar problem with my sisters saturn.. it ended up being the crank sensor that intermiditly stop working and so the coils wouldent fire...it took a min to figure out cause it wouldent store a code for this problem..i think checking into that crank sensor may find the culprate

93 ford with 7.3 wont turnover or anything. I replaced the starter and had an extra quickboost to one of the batteries and it started. Ran for a minute..switched off and tried to crank again...no...

So, if when it happens you don't hear anything, perhaps it is your safety interlock switch acting up. Have you tried starting in neutral (assuming you have auto transmission)?

Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6222268-engine_doesnt_crank_turn_over . These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

2000 chevy s-10 died on highway will crank will not turnover bought new battery

spray brake cleaner into throttle body and try to start. If it starts your fuel pump failed most likely. If it doesnt fire most likely crank sensor or ignition module failed.
