I just replaced the starter on my daughters 1996 Honda Accord it started overheating and shutting off she put antifreeze in the radiator but it continued to smoke and shut off again now it won't s

If the smoke is white ,it's water (head or gasket)
Timing belt will shut it off completely.
Can't see any way the starter could have anything to do with it.
However if it has a head gasket problem, hydrostatic lock can
make a good starter look bad(,water will not compress like air)
so if there is water in a cylinder the engine won't turn over.
If a head gasket is bad there will be white smoke out the
tailpipe and bubbles coming out of the radiator (cap off while

Why is my 1994 Honda accord ex is needing water everyday

Might want to check your oil to see if water is in it or while its running see if water is dripping out your tailpipe.....If not, then you have a radiator leak or a busted hose....Start your car up with the hood open and let it run for a bit....look under you see water dripping anywhere???? Is it running hot????

I have a 1989 Honda Accord LXI and I just replaced the plug and plug wires its running great but... it produces ALOT of WHITE smoke from the the tailpipe, there is no sign of mixture in the oil or water

it is very possible that you have water leaking from is possibly a leak at the head gasket between the a compression check

I have a 1995 honda accord 209,000 miles,my car leaks antifreeze out of the muffler whenever i refill it,but i dont see any white smoke or have had any problems with it overheating..i recently changed the...

There is NO way water can get inside the muffler / exhaust pipe without evaporating, and causing a white smoke at the tailpipe. Additionally, in order to get inside, you would get major power and idling problems. I would look at the cooling circuits near the firewall ( cooling hoses to the internal heater, for example) because one of them must be dripping water externally onto the exhaust pipe or muffler. If the car never overheats, there is a possibility that you are simply overfilling the cooling water bottle. The full mark for accord bottles, is waaay down, it looks as if the bottle was empty. As soon as the engine heats up, it will send excess water overboard.

Water comes out muffler

I safely assume that this car runs on gas not diesel. When you burn gasoline, as well as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and a whole host of other noxious gases, you get water, produced as a gas (vapour). When this water vapour meets a cooler surface (the inside of your muffler system) it condenses into liquid water and will continue to condense until the surfaces around it give it sufficient energy (via heat) to convert it back to gas.

When you start a car, the water vapour turns to water in your muffler, the pressure of the expanding gases of combustion push the water along with it towards an area of lower pressure (outside the muffler via your tailpipe). Until your muffler system warms up, you WILL get water from your tailpipe.

ASSUMING that your engine is running sweetly, that is, if it is running like a bag of old nails, then you may have a cylinder head gasket (seal) problem. If so, take it to the Honda shop.
