Either your keys (transponder) or theft computer (transceiver) have lost its memory

try your spare key
if still inop, you will need a professional scan tool to diagnose and/or reprogram the computer

Hummer H3 Antitheft. How do I reset it

This may be related to the antitheft system The system is known for turning off the starter and/or injectors when it fails. Is there a light on the dash that says SECURITY? This is a common problem worth looking into.

How do I start crv after antitheft is activated?

Place the key in the ignition, and turn it slightly to the right. Don't try to start it. When you turn the key the dash lights should have lit up. Keep the key that way for ten minutes, maybe a little more. The theft system light should turn off, and the car can be started.

The security light is telling you of a problem in your antitheft system. In guessing the light turned on for about ten minutes while you where driving and then turned off. If you would have tried to start the vehicle while this light was on, it would not have started. Go to this link for a full explanation of passlock antitheft security and ways to beat it, before it beats you.

Chevy s10 wont start

Just a thought, it could be the antitheft system "passlock" this can turn your injectors off if not functioning correctly. (that's the antitheft, can't run with no injectors). You would see a light on the dash that says SECURITY or ANTITHEFT. This link explains.

2000 Chevy Impala just had a used engine installed. Battery is brand new, but the car will not even turn over when you try and start the car. THe radio lights and all the electrical components work fine....

These cars and many many many other gm cars and trucks are equipped which an antitheft feature. Many times on engines swaps and ignition changes, this system gets interrupted because the computer is not seeing the proper signal from the original equipment. Try to start the car, when it doesn't turn over, leave the key in the "on" position. Look for a light near your gauges that says "security" or "antitheft". If you see this indicator light, then the problem is definitely the antitheft system. Fixing it is rather expensive. Bypassing it is relatively cheap. This link explains everything you need to know.

Possible antitheft problem. When the antitheft fails, you get a light on the dash that says SECURITY, and the starter gets turned off. This link explains.

Car wont crank, and think it is because of security light.

If the security light is on, and the car doesnt start, then you have a failed antitheft system. This light is a dead give away that the antitheft is shutting down your vehicle.

Vehicle wont crank replaced starter acts like no power to starter

This may be due to the antitheft system. This is actually pretty common on GM cars. Try to start your car, when it doesn't start, look for a light on the dash that says "security" out has a picture of a car with a lock thru it. If you see this, the antitheft is the problem. Go to this link, has some trouble shooting and antitheft security fixes.

Engine starts normally most of the time, however, occasionally it will turnover, but not fire. Noticed that it happens when the anti theft light us on. We tried to start the vehicle when the door was...

Well, the antitheft circuitry definitely is involved. Sometimes opening the door and closing it is part of the reprogramming process (at least on my 1999 Ford Expedition was this way for adding keys with the chip in them to the computer's memory).

I might try asking the dealer about this problem where the antitheft light is on and the car will not start.

I'm not sure if I would go so far as to say that it's defective. Just that the key needs to be programmed to the computer until the antitheft light doesn't go on.
