The high-pressure front lamp washers stopped working at 10,000m. Alarm triggered randomly around the same time.

Why couldn't communication be established with my OBD II system when I went to the DEQ?

If you didn't try a different emission station. It could be an issue with there machines software. Have seen this before.

Four buttons on dash for 4 wd. won't stay on 2 wd and it goes back to 4wd by itself

Sorry, but three possibilities. Most likely the 4wd actuator motor on the transfer case went bad. This is pretty common. They also encounter switch problems, but it sounds like your switch is doing what it's supposed to. One more thing, there is a 4wd control module, usually in the right kick panel. I'm betting on the shift motor though.

2009 pontiac g5 manual trans. Ignition switch can not be turned off. key can be turned to start position, but can not be turned to off position. engine running. what's wrong?

Just encountered the same problem. Popped the clutch in first gear to kill the engine, but still cannot turn the car off.

Anyone have a clue as to why the ignition locked out?

I have a 99 grand am my car started then went off

often this will happen when the fuel pump stops but the check engine light won't set from this. best thing to do is get a can of start fluid from auto parts store and open the air filter box and have someone spray into the air line while you are trying to start the engine. If the problem is the fuel pump the motor will start and run until you stop spraying. If this works the service engine light could go out and nothing else be wrong.
good luck

Enigine fail safe mode

I encountered the same problem, my engine fail safe mode light came on and shut the car down. I took my car to my mechanic and he found the solution to the problem. The car needed a throttle body cleaning and the fuel filter needed to be replaced. After having my truck serviced my mileage increased from 14.6 mpg to 15.4 mpg

HEY SO WHAT DO YOU THINK WOULD BE WRONG WITH THE CAR IF I WAS TO BUY IT AT 190,000 MILES HOW MUCH LONGER DO YOU THINK IT WOULD LAST

If all the service's where done, tune up, trans service, front end align and so on maybe 10-20,000 miles, one big one how are the brakes? has the timing belt been replaced? At this high of miles you just can't be sure, my Dad had one of these it went 200,000 but then things starting going wrong, timing belt broke, alternator went out, numerous electrical problems, he sold it, it was bankrupting him at the last.

1999 New Beetle. PLEASE HELP! SHAKES REALLY BAD!

A shake with the engine running (known in the vernacular as a "shimmy") can be caused by several things. In this case, since it's at idle, I'd wager either a.) timing went off, which in an EC (electronic control) vehicle means you should be asking "why me?" or b.) could be a miss. Chances are, whatever the problem, that check engine code that got tripped will tell you what happened. It might be a simple thing like a sensor malfunctioned and now is telling the engine to fire wrong, dwell wrong, too much gas...etc, or it might be something went seriously wrong (broken engine mount, bad distributor...etc). Either way, get that code read and you should be able to get back on the road.
