By Beresford - usenet poster

Hello,

I have an 87 pickup 4-cyl EFI . my timg mark does not change at all with the
jumper in place. could any one help me out? By the way if I put the timing mark
where the manufacture is called for, then the truck has no power, struggle
uphill. So I had to advance the timing quite a bit around 20 BTDC It seems to
run alot better. Any help would be appreciated.

Your throttle position sensor is out of adjustment.

Caution, Clinton governs (rules) by executive order again!

He tells you that you don't need an "Uzi" to hunt deer, or
an AK-47 to shoot skeet!

Since when is the 2nd amendment built to protect hunting?
or skeet shooting?

It was to protect the citizens from tyrannical and oppressive
government!

This may not be a freedom you excersized, but you shouldn't
give it up for "ANY" reason.

Watch out for incrementalism, this is the way they slowly
chip away your rights and freedoms.

They will trick you into thinking that giving up
a freedom/right is the correct thing to do with
phrases like "its for the children" etc. or make
you feel guilty even though, you broke no laws

Ask yourself this: Does your kids have the same freedoms you
did when you were their age? Remember when you brought a squirt
gun to school, it was still classified as a toy! Now they get
thrown out for bringing a gun to school, or an aspirin etc!

Those willing to give up essential libertys for temporary
security, will end up with and deserve neither--Benjamin Franklin

Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men,
under go the fatigue of supporting it---Thomas Paine-1777

My 1985 Mr2 did the same thing, Rick Jones said that it was common for this
to happen in older Toyotas. I set my timing for 16 BTDC and it seemed fine.
However after about 2 weeks I took it to a local Toyota shop and they adjusted
(eyeballed it) it for $10. Jones also said that it could be a throttle sensor
out of adjustment.

You need to adjust the TPS according to the manufacturer setting on your manual, this procedure is part of regular tune up. you need OHM meter and Feeler gauge and right angle Philip screwdriver. once it is adjusted properly the engine RPM will change if you jumper E1
