I have a 626. There's no good news here. Your transmission is gone. Try JDM engines and see if they can get you one. I think their website is They are who we deal with to find low mileage replacement motors and transmissions.

No, there's not a pump, but it does have a torque converter. It basically converts engine power to drive the transmission.
Hard shifting and having to warm up before working properly are both tell-tale signs of low transmission fluid. Make sure your vehicle is level and it's warmed up to normal operating temperature before you check it. Check it while it's running.
If your fluid level is okay, then I would consider changing the transmission fluid and filter. You'll have to drain the transmission fluid before changing the filter anyway. Just make certain you use the correct type of transmission fluid. You can look it up under "Capacities and Specifications", in your manual or online. Transmission filters are inexpensive if you want to do it yourself.

Changing transmission filter on 1997 mazda 626

If it has those transmission without a transmission pan then all you can do is drain the fluid and refill it back up with fresh one. The ones I have seen are like Hondas, their filters are built inside the transmissions, so in order to replace the filter is to rebuilt the transmission. Those Mazda transmission should use Mercon III transmission fluid but check in your manual book to make sure. The Honda transmissions uses special transmission fluid from the Honda Dealer only.
hope help.

suggest that you check your transmission fluid post haste please. you may only need to add transmission fluid to your car. also,if you have to add the fluid, where did your fluid leak? check for leaks under your car when parked. you may need transmission fluid and filter change, suggest that you do this with new filter and add lucas transmission treatment to the fluid change also. you'll need to purchase this yourself, unless you have a mechanic in the family that can do it for you.if not i suggest you find a mechanic you trust, then tell him,or,her to add this to your tranny fluid change. also suggest while the mechanics there at the transmission to check the modulator valve on the transmission, and the vacum line that operates it. just a hint. thanks for choosing

How often should you have a transmission fluid flush for a Mazda 5

To play it safely and conservatively, every 60,000 miles should keep your transmission in good shape. Be sure you change both the fluid and the filter.

Does a mazda 323f 2001 model need gearbox oil change after some milage or is it a sealed unit?

Automatic and standard transmission needs fluid change every 24 months. On automatic transmissions, the gasket needs to be changed as well as the filter. On standard transmission there is a drain plug that can be loosened up, and refilled through the refill hole. Standard transmission use gear oil, while automatic transmission uses automatic transmission fluid.
