The contacts in the switch are worn or the switch needs adjusted or replaced. The switch is at a lower location on the steering colmn, and uses a shifting rod to move of slide the sw contacts.

How do i fix my sercuity system

Hi like to answer your question
can be one of two things
First can you take the key out of the key chain n try again while holding the key in, but not holding it forward,
second if you turn the key n the vehicle starts nu have to hold the key forward than u have a bad (ignition switch) not to be mistaken with ignition cylinder
Good luck.

Can I tighten the ignition switch in a Honda 2004 pilot? I can't turn the key unless I push the switch forward in the column. It appears to be lose and it I adjust the switch it starts

on a honda you have to push the key/lock inwards to turn/start the car( stops you turning the key when already running)and when you pull the key out it engages the steering without me actually turning the key i do not see you have a problem...

Ligth on in the dust board maint rejd

factory settings to alert you of routine maintenance intervals, not the same as "check engine" which instead indicates a problem. The reset for this is w/ the key off, hold in your trip button on the odometer, while holding it in turn the key so that everything powers on, don't start it, just turn the key forward, while still holding the trip button in, watch the "maint req'd" light, after about 10 secs it will go out, then release the trip button, thats it.
