Help with '92 Toyota Celica GT

Hi, First off the car seems underpowerd too me (even for a automatic). It
has a 2.2l DOHC engine but it really doesn't have good pickup at all.
Something is wrong with the breaks... They work TOO GOOD! You bairly put
your foot on the break and you are stopped! Also the dashboard break light
is on... It used to only come on for a while when you first started the
car... After 10 min or so it would go off. But now it seems to be on all the
time. I checked the break fluid and it is full. The light is not on all the
way... its like its half way on. When you pull the parking break it gets a
lot brighter. IM not really sure what is going on... I have a repair manual
but it says nothing about the break light. But it does say that underpower
could be caused by binding breaks. So im thinking maybe something is
adjusted wrong on the breaks... The parking break is adjusted fine, I
already checked it. So what is the problem?

Dont complain about the breaks (i mean brakes) being too good, you never
know when you may need themcant help on the brake light either, i would
have but it down to the hand brake sensor, that what it was on mine.

In the UK, they say "spelt" instead of "spelled" as in the US.
As for the brake light staying on, try disconnecting the fluid
level sensor plug near the master cylinder. If the sensor is in the
reservoir rather than on the cap, short the two wires in the harness
connector to each other. If the light goes out, you have a bad sensor
in the reservoir. I think you have to buy the whole reservoir (but not
the whole Master cylinder) to get the sensor.

so the moral of the story is, it takes one to know one! lol, don't
knock other people's spelling if you aren't an expert yourself. AND,
whoever asked you about "spelt" wasn't the person who posted the
original question, so don't hold a grudge against him/her. lol.
i think we can all understand what "break/brake" they were talking
about from the context in the first place. okay? no big deal.

From the information you provided, sounds like your brakes are bearing
down all the time: the underpower, the brake light on, and the quick
stops all equate to my theory. have your brakes checked early. you
could ruin your car if you let it go on... poor little celica.
Or hopefully it is something as simple as the sensor the other person
was talking about. good luck

There is a huge differance between Brake and Break, when refering to cars, i
was pointing out a error, not critisising anyone, so if you would have read
my letter properly you would understand that, i dont hold a grudge against
anyone on here, if i did they would know about it, so whats this about me
being an expert????? I have trouble speaking English, never mind writing it,
and all i did was offer some advice, and the next minute you try preaching
to me

I test drove a 1993 Celica GT convertible and the brakes took the least
amount of pressure of any brakes I ever used. I liked it. Great stopping
power.
