Big wire from positive from battery goes to big stud facing the battery. Big wire to starter goes on other big stud. Little wire or wires go to little post. If you have 2 little posts they are labeled I (ignition) & S (starter). If you put on wrong little post it wont engage starter when you turn key to start. Just connect it to the other then it will engage starter when you turn the key to start.

Is this a starter with the starting solenoid mounted on the starter? IF SOThe wire with the smallest eyelet goes on the smallest terminal of the solenoid. The battery cable and other wiring with the larger eyelets will go on the big terminal on the solenoid.its about a 5/16 or a 3/8 size stud, check the base nut tighten if needed first then install the other wires after the BATTERY cable.
Ford used a starter relay that mounted on the fender well, which will have most wires hooked to the relay itself on the battery side of the circuit.,only the big cable runs on down to the starter terminal.

Not sure what you are saying the problem is.
You have a red wire on the solenoid that goes to the battery and a 50amp fuse. The red and lite blue wire comes from the key switch.
Then you have a black wire that goes from the solenoid down to the starter to energize it. You have a large red wire on the starter coming from the battery to power it.

Start by checking your positive battery cable connection that the batter and the solenoid remove those cables with the proper sized wrench and clean with wire brush or sandpaper reconnect and attempt to start and be sure all the other wires wired to the soleniod ignition wire for one is connected and secure.

The solenoid on your starter is probably no good. Just get a new starter. Theres no starter that will "grab the teeth better", theres just new ones that work and old ones that **** out
