If the light is on steady you need to get it scanned for dtc's (diagnostic trouble codes) a lot of times it is an evap system code. you may want to ck. gas cap tightness. but the light is a warning light that could be on for any number of reasons. sorry i couldnt be more help. if the gas cap was loose the light will go out after 3 drive cycles with out a problem.

It will not shift out of first gear. Service engine soon light is on. Reverse works fine and so does first gear, just will not shift after moving.

Hi!

The Service Engine light need to be check for codes, Because i think you have a shifting problem that might be coming from the shift solenoid. And I would check the transmission fluid level first to see because this can also cause shifting problems due to low fluid and lack of pressure. And for the Service engine light, I think you can go to any autoparts store near you and ask them to scan it for you, Its free. Good luck

Service vehicle soon light came on

Could be as simple as the gas cap being loose. Or it could be a much worse problem. You should go down to your local Autozone and have them scan the computer for trouble codes. This is a service they will do for Free! Good luck!

2002 pontiac grand am has 2 service engine soon lights the one on the right comes on and goes out periodiclly

Usually one is a service vehicle soon and the other service engine soon. They are different. The service vehicle soon is telling you the body has an electrical issue and the service engine is telling you you have a powertrain issue. If you get the codes pulled from the engine at auto zone or another big box part store for free and post the codes we can help. This we do first. Then we can worry about the service vehicle soon.

Service engine soon light

Check all your fluid levels. Oil, coolant, (only when engine is cool), brake fluid, also check that your fuel cap is on tightly. If these are all ok then you will have to have the vehicle checked for trouble codes via the cars on board diagnostic computer.

My change oil light never goes off even though I had it changed and now my service vehicle soon light is on even though its been running fine

The change oil light needs to be reset after each oil change...some shops are not knowledgeable on how to do this...Your owners manual will instruct you how to reset the oil change light...The service engine soon is a catch all for low fluids and other needs...Be sure to check your oil level again...to clear the service engine soon light, you can disconnect either battery cable for 15 minutes then reconnect...if the service engine stays on...then you need to have your Grand Am checked...Auto Zone does a free diagnostic of check engine light codes...:)

The service engine soon light is on. The check engine light had come on several times the day before. The check fluid light had come on & went off. Added 2 qts. of oil to the engine and it is fine....

Have the computer scanned if you want a quick scan have Auto Zone or the like scan it for free , they also will give you a printout of the problem code, if any, that may be stored in the computer system.
Trans. fluid is only checked on a running in park warm engine, if it is not running the fluid will read too high on the stick showing an overfilled condition, use only recommended fluid, should have the type requirements stamped on the transmision dip stick.
When filling do it slowly and add only half a quart at a time checking the level each time as to not over fill.
The trans. fluid and filter should be changed every 30,000 miles as preventive maintenance proceedures.
Hope this helps, good luck!!

ABS light, Brake light, and trac control lights on no brake problems. have to turn off engine and restart to clesr lights 2001 windstar

You most likely have a problem with the ABS brake system. First, check your brake fluid level as many vehicles have a fluid level switch that monitors brake fluid level and if the level is low it can turn off the ABS and turn on all those lights.[ABS is part of the Trac control] If that is good then you may have a failing wheel speed sensor, wiring, or a problem with the ABS controller itself which would require having someone connecting to and reading the ABS service codes with a scan tool to identify what the system saw that caused it to turn itself off. Brakes are a very important safety item so you should get it repaired as soon as possible!

A service light is staying on. its a yellow light with a wrench

That is you service vehicle soon light. It will come on if a exterior light is out or the service engine light doesn't work. Check all you lights and (parking and head lights) and you fluid levels. Check high and low beams and day time running lights.

Service Engine Soon light indicator always on

well the check engine light is directly intergrated to the vehicles main computer.often times when the vehicle is repaired the code that caused the light to come on needs to be reset. there are to forms of codes active, and stored. what often times happens is a stored code doesn't get reset and from time to time it will cause the light to come on. also it could be that even though you had the vehicle repaired it could be that they either did not fix the right problem or they never reset the codes. my suggestion is to take it back to the shop that repaired it and have them do it right. one other thing you should check is that all your fluid levels are as they should be. in most vehicles today low fluid levels ie coolant, oil,etc will cause the light to come on. hope this helps you...please rate this

Service engine soon & brake light stays on

the service engine light is prob due to the oxygen sensor being damaged, not replace or you having the catalytic converter taken off---just messing with you. start at auto zone and have then do a free code read then go from there. you should troubleshoot the low fluid level switch for your brake fluid. unplug it and see if the light goes off and if it doesn't jump the two terminals on the harness. oh the car will have to be running.
