Question about 2000 Chevrolet Blazer

1 Answer

My 2000 Chevy Blazer has me puzzled. The lowbeam headlights will not shut off unless i pull the relay under the hood. All the rest of the lights go on and off properly. i put in a new multifunction and ignition switch but still have the problem. All the fuses are good and the relays are working properly i here them clicking when i unplug and plug back in. When the truck is running the drls are on and the low beams go off but as soon as i shut the truck off the lowbeams come on. Even with the switch disconnected they are on. when the truck is off the lowbeams are on and the highbeam indicator in the dash is on.My dash cluster also has me scratching my head the speedo trip and odometer fuel and temp gauge to not work and the airbag lowfuel security abs lights are on...I hate electrical

The switch powers up the coil in the relay thus closing the contact points for your lights to work. Recheck switch for positive shut off and check relay for points sticking together, allowing lights run full time.

Where is relay for lowbeam headlight for 1997 f-150 ford pickup located?

No relay that I know of.
The power comes from the headlight switch into the dimmer switch.

Why won't 2002 Chevy express van with Sidewinder security system headlights shut off when headlight switch and key is off?

Either the headlight relay is stuck on, or the security system's headlight control is shorted and keeping the headlight relay on. Find the headlight relay (probably in a fuse and relay box under the hood), remove it and check the contacts with an ohmmeter. They should read open in a good relay, but will read little or no resistance if the contacts have welded together ( a possible result of rapid on-off cycling).

1998 chevy blazer fuel pump wont shut off how do

I don't think you can on that vehicle-probably not a code, anyway. Check the fuel pump relay, it may be stuck on. Should be located in the power distribution box under hood. Pull it out-pump should stop-swap in a different relay to test. If pump still runs on with new relay, the wiring to the relay needs checked.

I have a 2000 Volvo S40 and the left lowbeam does not go on unless I tap the fusebox, located right above the hood pop. I am wondering if the problem would be with fuse 10a, 15a or 20a? Or if not those...

Check the relay switch. It is a small square box about 1"x1"x1" and when you pull it out, has 4 or 5 terminals depending on the style. some are long rectangles. They are located either in the fuse box or in another box specifically for the relay. Or you can do a search on google for headlight relay location. Also, try wiggling the fuse or better yet relace it. there should be a separate fuse for the right and left headlights. I am betting on the fuse because the headlight relay should control both lights, whereas each light has its own fuse. Hope this helps.

When I turn on my headlights the lowbeam lights will not come on. I switched the highbeam and lowbeam wires to see if it was the wires or the lights. the lowbeam lights came on when i put the high beam...

It is either the light switch or the headlight relay, I would say first go for the relay as it carries the actual load of the lights. It will not be a fuse, the headlights are fused individually.

My chevy blazer has a problem with the headlights and its not the fuse what could it be

I am going to need more info. " problem with headlights " ? I will guess you are telling me they do not turn on ( ? ) Is there anything else electrically that is not working ?
You have your fuses inside your vehicle, but there are also fuses, and relays under the hood.
Open your hood. Standing in front of the vehicle look for a plastic box marked " FUSES / RELAYS "
Open this plastic box. Under the cover should be a map of which fuse, and relay belong to what.
Let me know what you find.

perhaps i missed something here... lowbeams and daytime lights are about the same.... be that as it may... the merely obvious thing is that the low beams are burnt out.... next thing would be that the relay for the day time lights could be defective... it's often mounted on the firewall.

Each head lamp also has it's own relay, you can rule the relay out by swapping the left head light relay with the right head light relay & see if the problem moves to the other side...The relays are also in the same under hood fuse box.
