Your symptoms do not indicate a problem with the fuel filter, but it may be a good idea to change it anyway. Your filter is under car, center, below trunk area, rear of fuel tank, mounted in fuel line.
To better fix your problem, can you tell me if the engine light is on?
When you say no power, how bad? Will it go on the highway? How fast?

I stopped at a stop sign, and when I was ready to continue that car died. I was wondering what would have caused this?

I would first check the vacuum hose in front of the engine. Sometimes this small rubber hose gets cracked which allows air in and it disturbs the gas mix. It is a rubber hose behind a few plugs, but it's directly in front of the engine. You can replace the hose yourself for a few dollars at any auto parts store. This may solve your problem without needing a mechanic.

My 2001 Grand am Se keeps going dead on me while I stop. What is causing this? My husband has changed my fuel filter and also added some Seafoam to my gas tank and my car is still dying on me. It will...

try checking air filter and the box it's in and the hose leading to the engine.this i believe is vacuum problem.if there is a leak,it will stall at low speed.if not that, pcv valve or vacuum lines.if you need to figure out what's what, local libraries usually have haynes manuals with everything about the idles usually don't give problems, but if nothing else works it could be that.gas is made clean enough these days so that it should not be a gas related issue.

My fuel relay keeps blowing, car won't start

Here are a few areas to check: possible wire harness having bare insulation and rubbing on chassis. Loose connections at relay plug at fuse box. high resistance short to ground at fule pump

provided you don't have a vacuum leak, (check all hoses for tightness and cracks with engine running) it's probably your idle air control valve or sensor.
