It's what you have left after you remove the front wheel and the brake. Kind of round casting that holds the bearing and connects the a-frame and upper ball joint together with the tie rod end so the wheel can turn. The wheel studs stick out of the hub. The guts of it are shown below without the casting. If your casting is bad, recommend a salvage yard for that part.

Hi...your problem might be coming from your front wheel bearing hubs. They are know to cause this problem as they wear out and eventually have to be replaced.

Changing a hub assembly on a 2007 chevy

Put in tighten bolts. Each bolt little at a time moving equally between each bolt. You don't want to overtighten one bolt to much and cause it to go in at an angle. Be sure that it's tight. Air tools are the best choice but if you don't have any take time and use a braker bar to make sure it's good and tight.

Chevy silverado 1500 4 wheeldrive 2003

Raise the truck. Remove the wheel, brake caliper, caliper mounting and the dust cover in the center of the hub. Remove the ABS wiring, remove the large nut from the center of the hub. On the back side of the hub are 3 bolts, remove those and the hub should come off. Good Luck

Need directions for replacing a hub bearing assembly on my chevy silverado 1500, 2003, 4 wheel drive pickup.

REMOVE BRAKES, ON BACK SIDE OF SPINDLE REMOVE FOUR RETAINING BOLTS AND HUB ASSEMBLY SHOULD COME OFF.. MAY HAVE TO TAP WITH A HAMMER TO BREAK FREE FROM THE SPINDLE... BE SURE TO THOUOUGHLY CLEAN THE SPINDLE BEFORE INSTALLING NEW BEARING ASSEMBLY.
