All,

I'm stumped! I have an 84 4runner(carb) with a full throttle
hesitation. When the throttle is fully depressed in higher gears under
a hard load the engine surges and bucks without a real noticeable loss
of power. The carb has been rebuilt professionally the secondary wires,
plugs, cap and rotor have been replaced and the valves have been
adjusted.

Any ideas? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks

-   I have the same problem. But mine feels like the fuel shuts off. After bucking you have to let off the gas and press it down real slow to re gain any power.

Have you replaced the fuel filter yet.A restricted fuel filter can cause
this problem.

You also might want to check the plugs again. If not properly
installed or defective, bucking will happen.

My 2 cents; The surging or bucking is probably ignition related - plug
or plug wire. If you have a real bad chugging at full throttle under
load, it may be starved for fuel, fuel pump, filter or vaccuum leak.
I've also experienced fuel starvation under the same conditions by
having a faulty gas cap vent, which created a vaccuum situation in the
tank. I loosened the gas cap a bit and cured the problem.
