Question about 2004 Ford Escape
Get the code, but my guess is it\'s the seat belt pre-tensioner connectors. There is a TSB to replace them on both seats at the same time. Not a recall so not covered under warranty. Please rate highly if this helps.
RESTRAINT SYSTEM - SAFETY BELT BUCKLE AND PRETENSIONER DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) B1877 AND/OR B1881
This article supersedes TSB 04-24-4 to update the service procedure.
Some 2001-2004 Escape vehicles may exhibit an intermittent air bag lamp on and diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B1877 and/or B1881. This may be caused by a variation in the electrical continuity between the pins of the driver and/or passenger side wiring harness and the buckle pretensioner connector. If this condition were to occur, the air bag system remains fully functional.
Install a replacement harness connector kit ON BOTH the driver and passenger safety belt buckle pretensioners, even if the DTC is present for only one side. The kit includes improved connector halves to replace the existing connectors on both the body harness and the safety belt buckle pretensioner.
One kit is required per side (2 kits per vehicle). Refer to the instruction sheet included in the kit for complete repair procedure.
2001-2004 Escape Install A Replacement Harness Connector On Both The Body Side And Safety Belt Buckle Pretensioner Harness For Both Driver And Passenger Safety Belt Buckle Pretensioners (Do Not Use With 14056D)

For the ecm reset you can also disconnect the battery for ten minutes and it will reset it the only thing with this is you have to reset clock there is a 9volt adaptor that you can plug into lighter the will save settings it is enough power to save settings but will not interfere with ecm reset

SOURCE: 2000 2 door accent removed
you have to reset the ecm code , when you removed the fuse the ecm registered this as a loss of voltage and threw a code so now it doesn't know that the fuse has been replaced. you need a scan tool to reset the ecm...please rate the solution...thanks

SOURCE: Airbag light flashing
As long as the light is on the airbag system is disabled.
I would suspect that your clockspring behind the steering wheel is going bad. I would have someone with a scan tool that is able to retrieve trouble codes from the airbag system check it for codes to verify this. If so then steering wheel and steering column trim would have to be removed to access the clockspring to replace it.

It's the " clock spring " . Dodge has a lifetime recall / replacement on this part. Somehow it controls the air bag and is tied into the horn and cruise control .

Some vehicles you can disconnect the battery for 10-20 mins and it usually resets a check engine light. But the airbag light is different. This means there is something wrong with the airbag system and it will not go out until maintenance.
