Question about 1999 Ford Ranger SuperCab

My vehicle overheats, quick. no water is getting to the enjene. i have flushed the radiator, i took the rad. cap off and let it run and it took no time at all to gush out. my hose is brick hard and hot to the touch. i was going to take out the thermostate, but being the small girl i am i broke my extender socket with out budgeing the nut to get to the thermostate,,, any suggestions? do i need to get the thermo. out ??

Do not take out your themostat.

You need to Burp the air bubble trapped in your engine. You need to park the truck uphill on ramps and leave the radiator cap loose or put a U clip under the cap spring to keep it unseated.

Start engine and let it run until the thermostat opens and the upper hose is hot. Let it cool down and keep filling it as it cools. Repeat 3 times.

Then once more but tighten cap for the cool down and make sure overflow reservoir is kept to the full mark.

If that doesn't work, have a shop perfrom "Evac/Fill" to clear the air bubble.

My 1997 isuzu rodeo overheats and has no heat what's wrong


Could be that the heater core is clogged... for the car to operate at optimal temperature (not to cold, not too hot) all cooking system had to be working properly, I had a '97 camaro, it had 2 previous owners and I had heater core issues and also the hose that goes to the expansion tank was clogged, causing the water to build enough pressure to escape trough radiator cap... anyways they're two totally different cars but seems to me you need a cooling system flush.

They sell a kit which includes a T fitting that goes in the hose flowing towards the heating core, and allows you to connect a garden hose to push water through the system with radiator cap off so all can circulate and clean up. Being careful (water pressure in houses is more than the system is designed to withstand, for instance a radiator cap can be 15 - 20 psi, depending on area, some homes have above 40 psi) is a great diy little project. Alternatively you can pay a mechanic shop to do it. After a flush, drain the radiator from bottom plug and refill with coolant always. Don't run your system with water and don't drive an overheating car, it will blow a gasket and that's when you kiss your car goodbye, repair is not only expensive but blown gasket might leave sequels on engine.

Has the system been flushed? Correct temperature thermostat installed? Are you getting flow through the radiator? Rad cap sealing properly and is it the correct one? Are the fans actually coming on? Is the temp sensor working properly? Rad properly filled or still have air trapped inside? Water level correct? Water pump working or seized, leaking?

How to flush the radiator(cooling system) on 1995 chevy lumina


Wait until motor is cool. remove rad cap and loosen rad drain pet **** under rad. If you can't loosen it or cant find it, remove lower rad hose. let all antifreeze drain. Close pet **** or replace rad hose. Fill with water and rad flush(you can get the flush from an auto supply store or wallmart). Run for the recommended time on rad flush bottle. Wait for motor to cool. Then drain out water. Refill with 50% prestone and distiled water.

is your water pump circulating the water nissans used to have a problem with impellers on pump
leave rad cap off and run enginge should see water circulating when stat opens

What is the correct procedure for flushing the cooling system


drain the radiator either by removing the lower rad hose or by loosening the petcock fill the radiator with water and flush solution and run the vehicle for 20 mins with the cap off repeat this procedure until the water is clean but only use the flush solution the first time caution water will be hot

take the cap off of the radiator (whil engine is cold) start and run the vehicle. keep runnig 30mins after the vehicle is hot keeping notice of the rad fluid level.
keeping the cap off will prevent the pressure build up that woiuld keep the air in the system, keep adding water or antifreeze as the level goes down. this may take an hour or so.
also with the cap off, you will be able to see if your water pump is operating correctly. you will visibly be able to see movement in the rad when the pum is engaged.

Trooper Overheating


Your radiator efficiency has been reduced by (what is called) blossoming. Blossoming is electrolytic growth of crystals inside radiator duct passages. This typically occurs in the older Troops as gradual overheating probs cause the vehicle to run low on coolant, then water is being used to top off system repeatedly, acid levels in cooling system rise as the coolant protectants degrade and the inside of the radiator ducts 'blossom' with small crystalline growths that reduce the radiators flow and ability to cool the engine. Flushing and blowing out the radiator are temporary fixes. Replacing the radiator is the permanent fix. You did the right thing by replacing the water pump, tstat and radiator cap. An old, original water pump usually fails soon after the radiator is replaced. New Trooper radiators are fairly cheap, $85+. The replacement can be done by any backyard mechanic or DIYer in under and hour. You know the typical warnings about the toxicity of antifreeze and the deadly affects on pets who drink improperly disposed coolant. Good luck to you. It's an easy remove and replace. Your Trooper will thank you with many cool running miles. -Geoff

Radiator whines and overheats when not moving


Have someone flush cooling system & check condition of rad for debris in front of rad & blow or spray it out as necessary. Next time it runs hot, turn your heater temperature up high, blower fan on high, and see if gauge starts to come back down a little. If it does, my guess is your rad needs replacing, or at least consider trying a good reverse flushing of the system first, then rad.

How do i reverse flush fiesta radiator


(With the engine cold) remove the radiator cap

First drain the coolant out of the radiator in a container, either from a drain on the bottom of the rad, or by slowly removing the bottom rad hose.

Block, or pinch the top radiator hose

First, flush from the top... pour water into the rad cap hole for a while and let it come out the bottom hose.

Then, run water from the bottom, and let it run out of the open cap.

Then flush it from the top again.

This should flush the rad, unless it is clogged pretty solid.
