Hello pbsimmitt1: My name is Roger and I will help you. You should be able to jack up the front of the vehicle high enough to reach through the wheel wells. Raise up the water shield and you should be able to reach the spark plugs. Be sure to twist the plug boots or you might pull the end out of the plug wires. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer you received. This way I know it was helpful. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

Are ACDelco 41-942 Spark Plugs the proper plugs for the 1996 GMC JIMMY 4WD V6 , are they pre gaped and what should the proper gap be?

they should be the 41-932 plugs. AC Delco
gap should be 0.060 inch.
Check the gap before installing any plug. You never know if they were damaged in shipping before the part store got them, or if some idiot employee at the store attempted to juggle them while bored one day and damaged them by dropping them.

I was driving and it just died,we now found we do not have any spark on driver side, can you tell me what it may be,or what we should try to fit it.it will not turn over.Thank you sherry

No spark. This is indication of faulty spark plugs. But spark plugs get power to spark from coil pack. So get the connection between coil pack to spark plugs checked. If it checked out ok then its faulty spark plugs that has to be replaced, but if coil pack has no power then its faulty coil pack that has to be replaced. But if coil pack and spark plugs both checked out ok then this problem is fuel related problem. In this case the fuel pressure needs to be checked. The fuel pressure can be easily checked at any local car garage. If its low then its faulty fuel pump as well as clogged fuel filter, which has to be replaced. The voltage for spark plugs and coil pack in voltmeter will show 12 volts. Its a 12 volt part.If there is no or low volt then there is problem with the part. ------------------ Keep updated with any more queries.Thanks.

92 GMC Jimmy Replaced fuel pressure and fuel filter, changed spark plugs and wires , no fuel pressure at valve, car will crank for 2-3 seconds then go dead

if you say you replaced the fuel pressure ? "regulator or pump" that was not very clear as to which so i am guessing and the filter but have no fuel to the fuel bar valve either you have no power to the pump or a clogged fuel line or a blown fuse or a short in the power suppluy to the fuel pump if you turn the key to on position without cranking it do you hear a slight humming noise if so the fuel pump is working ..if you do now hear this chances are as i stated above
the use of a test light is required to check for power to the pump as wel do you smell any gas =fuel lines are rotted .let ne know what you discover and check all your fuses

2000 Quest, cranks but wont start. What possible causes are there or what and how do I check next? Plugs are wet w/fuel. It died suddenly while driving, no spuddering.

check your distributor. Your distributor send electricity to your spark plugs, and the car is not going to fire up without a spark from the spark plug, but it will crank. i would bring it to your nearest garage.

Hope this helps

cheers

No spark but everything replaced new. still wont run

Doesn't sound like a coil pack fault i'd say either a bad earth or a cam/crankshaft sensor. have them both checked out by an auto electrician. Or you could be sleeping in your garage for months trying to sort the problem.

Timing of coil moved

The best but not easiest way to to this is to bring engine to TDC (top dead center) Pull the number one spark plug and have some one kick ignition until you feel the most pressure (compression) on your finger. That means you have reached TDC once you have reached that point the number one spark plug wire going to the cap will point you to a good starting point. Pull your cap of and see if the rotor is point to number one. If it is not pull distributor up and rotate. remember that it is deceptive as it rotates down some what awkwardly so it could take a couple tries before your closer.
Another possabilty is a back fire and the timming chain jump a link.

2001 Jimmy will not start

The problem was corrosion on the contact points in the distribitor cap. I replaced the cap & rotor.
