I had this problem with my 91 tracker. Turns out, the ECM had gone bad. This is a common problem for the tracker/sidekick.There is a way to bypass part of the ecm with a jumper from the coil to the efi, if that makes it run then the ecm is bad. I don't remember the trick exactly, but a google search should find it. I took my ecm out and sent it to a guy on ebay and he fixed it for 60 bucks and warrantied it for 2 years.

I have a half a tank of gas in my car but for sum reason it wont start it cranks like it want to start but it dont after doing it for so long the battery drains out but all my lights and horn still works...

Make sure you are getting fuel to the engine. Your fuel pump (usually in the gas tank) may be bad. If it is getting fuel, then likely it has an ignition problem (no spark).

Car won't start sometimes just had the fuel injectors cleaned out

The most common cause of a not start like this is a failing fuel pump inside the fuel tank. Buy an can of spray starting fluid and the next time it doesn't start spray the fluid into the air intake of the engine and crank it over, if it starts and then stalls as the fluid is burned off then you found the problem, no fuel pressure. Also run a fault code test on the electronic engine control system, Autozone does this fro free.

Is there a fuel reset button on my 1996 monti carlo?

Fuel cutoff switches is a Ford thing.Verify 12 volts to the connector at the sending unit in the tank(PCM will run pump for 2 seconds when key turned to "run").If you get 12 volts, and the pump dosen't run when the connector is hooked back up,the pump is bad.

Turned of car, will not start it turns over, but doesn't seem to be getting any fuel

Try A SMALL SHOT Of Starting Fluid Sprayed into the Snorkel
Intake @ Air filter. If it Starts and Does NOT Run After Burning Starting Fluid the Fuel Pump Has Failed. (My Personal Hunch) is (FUEL PUMP FAILURE) BE SURE TO ELIMINATE THE INERCIA SWITCH< it is a fuel shut off switch >>>>> WARNING: Do not reset the inertia switch button if you see or smell fuel.

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Check for leaking fuel in the engine compartment, fuel lines and fuel tank.
  3. If no fuel is apparent, reset the inertia fuel shutoff switch by pushing the reset button on top of switch.
  4. Turn ignition switch to START for a few seconds, then to OFF.
  5. Again, check for leaking fuel.

  1. Open luggage compartment door.
  2. Remove two screws retaining inertia fuel shutoff switch.
  3. Disconnect wiring harness connector from inertia fuel shutoff switch and remove inertia fuel shutoff switch.
  4. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Ran out of gas. vehicle started, ran, drove home,

the fuel pump runs for 5 seconds when you turn key to ON. It runs all the time whie cranking and after engine starts.

Spray some starting fluid into throttle body & see if it starts then. If yes, pump may be bad. Can you hear pump run in fuel tank?

Car died on road engine turn over but will not start

Try spraying starting fluid into the air intake, with the help of someone else starting the car. As they crank over the car, spray the starting fluid into the air intake. Do this for at least 15 seconds. If the car tries to start up the fuel pump has probably gone bad. When turning the key to the on position do you hear the fuel pump humming? If the pump is not humming the fuel pump is probably bad.

Spray a shot of starting fluid in throttle body and it starts but dies almost immediately after it starts and needs another shot of starting fluid to start again. Once it starts again it dies almost...

Sounds like u have a fuel problem. The engine is not getting the fuel it needs thats why when u spray the starting fluid in it runs then dies when it burns it up. check the fuel pump and see what kind of psi your getting.

Turn key forward listen for the fuel pump to pressurize if you don't here anything then your fuel pump needs replaced and it's in the tank.
