Only fix is an engine overhaul, thicker oil will only give you higher oil pressure, and you will still hear it.

Why does my subaru sounds like a diesel wen I starts it

I assume your Subaru is older, or has quite a few miles on it. Subaru Boxer Engines tend to develop noise we refer to as "Piston Slap". As the engine develops wear in the cylinders, the cylinders become out-of round. Because the cylinder is no longer within very tight tolerances, the piston, when it reaches top dead center, will "Slap" the opposing cylinder wall as it makes it way back down the bore. This is common among high mileage or older Subaru engines, and it usually will go away very quickly as the engine warms up. If that is the case, you don't have anything to worry about. I have seen Subaru Boxer Motors with significant slap with 300000 miles on them that run just fine once they warm up. If the noise does not go away when warm, you may have a more serious problem.

Piston slap

I think my friend, you should look towards getting your engine replaced. If you hear like a clicking or clunk noise while you drive, the internals of your engine are worn out and hitting against each other.
Your options are:
1. Scrap car or sell it
2. Swap engine for a new one
3. Get the engine reconditioned

Got piston slap.how to fix?

If you are sure it is piston slap then the only remedy is a rebore and slightly oversized pistons. If your running a lot of power or intend to then you should take the opportunity of getting internals forged. THe best source for this really is Roger Clarke Motorsport. Many forged engines will sound like a bag of nails when idling because of the type of piston used. Most normal pistons upper Small end bearing is slightly offset giving the piston a quiet movement . To increase the strength of the piston to take the extra load increased performance desires the piston small end is places pretty much top dead centre giving the engine a harsher note. Roger Clarke make a piston that overcomes this problem so you get a quiet engine and forged internals.

Hope this helps.

Subaru impreza sport 1999 piston slap

Rebuilding the engine is the only true cure. Be sure that the engine warms up without driving it. In other words, don't put any excessive load on the engine while it is cold. Once it warms up, the piston, rings, pins, etc. will expand from the heat. This is why you only hear slapping when the engine is cold.

Ive been told my car has piston slap is this bad

If that is true, it is bad. I would venture a guess that is not correct however. Your Isuzu is not that old and if it has been properly maintained, (especially oil changes, has not been overheated), then I assure you, this is not the case. How many miles does your vehicle have? What are the symptoms? I assume, some sort of tapping noise? If that is the case, the most common cause would be a hydrolic lifter not pumping up, not piston slap. Good Luck! I hope you find this to be very helpful.

I have a 1994 subaru impreza that has a knocking sound comeing from the engine when i start it up it knocks but then the knocking sound goes away after a couple of minutes what could it be?

Could be many different problems. Fist one that comes to mind if you have alot of miles is just oil and filter needing replaced or oil too thin. The other problem could be piston slap which occurs when you have a lot of miles and wear on the sleeves is past recomendation. It allows the pistons to rattle a bit till the heat takes over and straightens them out. Usualy consumes s fair amont of oil when this is the problem. Hope this helps and feel free to add more coment to the problem if you don't think these are the problems and we will see if I can suggest something else.
