Make sure you have spark .And make sure there is not a fuel system problem .If there is no spark it might have a bad sensor that triggers it there sometimes located at the crankshaft or cam.To test for fuel I usually pull the air cleaner top off an shoot a little starting fluid in only use a little amount .To much may cause damage to the vehicle.

My 2000 ford explorer suddenly wont start... the battery was relpaced less than 6 months ago. the key turns but nothing happens, no dash lights or any starting sounds, and at the same time my hood does not...

does the battery have a full charge to it? If so clean battery terminals and chck battery cable at starter make sure its getting good contact. Make sure battery ground is making good contact at engine. Can you jump the car off? If so take off positive battery terminal while the car is running if the car dies altenaters bad replace it.

My car wont start its a oldsmobile alero 1999

if car wont start.make sure your battery volts are 12.5.if not charge battery.or replace it if dont hold a charge.if battery is good engine wont turn over.make sure battery cables is clean and tight if all good no start .have starter and starter solenoid check.if battery and starter is good.check for fuel .has some one turn ignition to the on position.go to rear of car listen for fuel pump noise.if your hear fuel pump check ignition system for spark.go to auto parts place buy a spark tester.if you get no spark .check .ignition fuses and ignition module.if you hear no fuel pump.replace relay or fuse.if if fuse and relay good replace fuel pump.if every thing good .your car could have crank sensor problem. or your car is in theft deterrant mode.if so have your car towed in and scanned.

Car wont start

I can only say that for the old cars even sitting for a year is not healthy, because most parts of engine, starting system, charging system will get corroded/deposited. Most probably you will need to change battery, motor oil, fuel, spark plugs, check the starter and alternator. Also check the fuel pump, fuel filter. First shot would be battery, fuel, spark plugs and starter.
Good Luck

Car ran good

Any fuses located under the hood are usually located fairly close to the battery, in a rectangular black plastic box. Hope that this helps, remember to rate all solutions that you get from FixYa. Good luck.
