Question about Ford Futura

I have a 1994 Falcon Futura EF1, (Automatic) the problem is the gears keeping slipping out of Drive and feels like I'm in neutral, or sometimes takes a while for the gears to engage. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers

I had the same problem on my 1992 Fairlane.
Ended up just replacing it with newer box from a scrap yard.

It could be a number of things with the transmission though. Check transmission oil level (with the engine running, or at least pretty damn warm).
Was told by a mechaninc it could be the bands that have stretched and need replacing or it could be an electronic fault.

Take it to your local mechanic and they should take it for a test drive and give you a free appraisal and quote. Don't be taken for a ride though on the first quote!!

Hope this helps.

When i am driving my 2002 isuzu axiom when it gets to 30mph it feels like i put my car into neutral And drops down to 20mph. If i put my car into 3rd gear (is automatic transmission) it drives just fine. ...

did you scan it yet,
neutral does that mean it slips.
slips means, engine RPM rises fast but not car. does it.
do not let it slip or the tranny will burnup.
the transmissions on newer cars are all electronically shifted
by the TCM brain. and it has LIMPHOME , just like engines.
and skips gears , (varies by maker what)

you need to learn or ask someone to drive car and see if problem
is engine power lost or transmission failure it takes just a short drive.

no matter what scan the PCM , see all errors and report them.
or get car serviced,
or just diagnosed (yes, put that on work order and sign it)
there 3 choices......

My 1987 GMC s15 automatic 4x4 pickup keeps popping out of normal gear. The only gear it stays in is 4 low. Where do I start?

I'm assuming you're talking about the transfer case popping out of 2 high or even 4 high. It could be that the transfer case needs a chain or gears replaced and is slipping on the cogs/gears. In 4 low it takes less pressure/strain to move the vehicle so it doesn't slip. I would put the trans. AND transfer case in neutral, with the FRONT wheels blocked, and NOT running, jack at least one rear wheel off of the ground, and try turning the rear drive shaft back and forth to feel the free play (free play in the transfer case, not the rear end). Excessive free play should tell you that the drive chain/gears are very warn and could be slipping. That would be a start.

95 eagle vision esi slips out of gear at stops

there is a limp mode but I doubt if that is the problem
It indicates that the torque converter clutch servo/solenoid is faulty
run the fault codes to confirm if that is it or a faulty TCM
check wiring around the transmission

Car stops moving in reverse gear

Sounds like the car is just slipping out of gear. Keep your hand on the shifter when you back up next time. See if you can feel the shifter move when the car comes out of gear. If the shifter moves up when it happens keep pressure on the shifter holding it back like you dont want it to move forward. And of course if the shifter moves back when it comes out of gear, put forward pressure on the shifter so it doesnt slip out. This might work for now but but i know i wouldnt want to spen 700 for that ****. Let me know how it goes.

Taking a while to go into gear

Check the fluid level of the transmission. The model number in your vehicle is the A500,also designated the 42RE.With this trans, the fluid level is checked with the trans in Neutral, and the parking brake set, with the vehicle on level ground. If it is low on fluid, then there is a leak that must be located, and repaired.
