Problem for BMW 1993 3 Series
Air conditioner Problem

The air conditioner on my 1993 3 series will not come on. The car has
the dual zone manual controls, It worked fine in the winter when I tried
it for a maintenance run. Could it be a relay or something, the
compressor is not cycling on & off like normal. Any help would be
appreciated.

The a/c system could be low on refrigerant. Your vehicle may have a low
pressure cut-off switch which prevents the compressor clutch from engaging
and damaging the compressor (with low refrigerant, the oil will not stay in
suspension and lubricate the compressor adequately).
I am not sure if your vehicle has this switch or not (my e28 does not). You
can jump the switch and see if the clutch engages; otherwise, check the
wiring.
