Question about 1996 Honda Prelude

1 Answer

Hi i was trying to remove my oil filter on my honda prelude 1996 and it ended up getting bent and twisted. I puncture a screwdriver in the oil filter and it made a big tear on the oil filter. Now, I have no way of getting around to it, only hope is the base of the filter which is hard to get by since the metal rod is on the way. Can you please help me out on this one, thanks.

When standing in the front of the vehcile, the oil filter should be located on the back side of the engine...you may have to get to it from below the car.

How do i change the manual transmission fluid in 1996 honda prelude

You remove the drain plug from the transmission pan. The oil pan is at the front of the vehicle bottom of engine. The transmission pan is more in the middle of the vehicle. The plug will either be on the bottom of the pan or on the side. For a quick change you drain and refill, but you usually want to change the transmission filter which is inside the pan. To do that you drain and remove the pan, take of the old pan seal and clean the area it was at on the pan. Remove the filter and replace, then put the new gasket on the pan and install the pan and fill

Oil and oil filter

Um, need a 17 mm wrench or socket to remove the drain plug under the motor and the oil filter is behind the motor almost center, but get to it from the front or maybe driver side of the car. When u remove the oil filter, make sure the old o ring was remaoved as well, can easily tell if it is by looking at the old filter, it should still be on it.

Put some old oil on the new filter o ring to make sure it doesn't kink when u install it. To tighten the filter, screw it by hand until it' s snug, then give about half a turn more.

Engine should need about 3.7 litres or less to be full. So put 3 litres in it, start car for about 10 seconds and turn it off. Verify oil level and top up as necessary.

Good luck
