Problem for BMW 2007 525xi Sedan

Hi there,
I have a BMW 525i 1989 and have a dashboard problem.
I hope someone can help me.
What is happening is that when I start the car my RPM needle is jumping
allover the place and no other lights is woriking, but when I push the gas
pedal to about 4000 rpm everything shows up and then if I press brake
everything goes off again. It is weird but I can't find the problem. I
thought that it might be the battery inside the dashboard and when I took it
off, I couldn't find any battery.
Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong.
Just to mention, car otherwise works with no problem, enginewise.

you can aslo try to clean the old board out. some brake cleaner and a paint brush " 1 inch thick "
unplug the connectors, cleaned them out, if you see rust or so, clean them up
and see if that works.
i have " had " similar issues and all i did was to " smack " the top of my dash and cured the problem, haven't had that anymore. so i guess it was either dirty or not making enough connection.

A few capacitors in your circuit board are fried. You can try to replace
them or simply replace the entire board. It's much cheaper to replace the
"caps" if you know how. Check the E34 archives at http://www.bimmer.org. It will
explain replacement. Search for "dash" or "circuit board".
