1999 4 x 4 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 114,000 MILES. I HEAR AIR COMING FROM UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL. IT STOPS WHEN I HIT THE BRAKE PEDAL. PLEASE HELP

That is avacuum leak there isa hose down there about a quarter inch thick going to a plastic switch it is common for that switch to leak it needs to be replaced .while the engine is running get down there and listen u will here it and see hose also if u spray it with asteady mist from a squirt bottle at it the noise should go away and the engine rpm should change that way u will know what part it is also u will be able to change it urself and probly save urself 50 to 100 bucks labor it will have the part number on it

Disconnect and plug the vacuum line going to the brake booster under the hood. Now test for noise. If the noise has stopped then your power brake booster may be leaking.

The boot seal that is on the pedal hinge and the brake booster might have ripped due to the extreme temps. Check the seal and make sure its still good.

Replacing brake stop switch


Look at the top of the brake pedal you will see the switch. Simply unplug the connector and remove the nut (if applicable).

99 Jeep Grand Cherokee Brake light problem


You can adjust the switch by putting your thumbs on either side of the switch plunger and pushing toward the brake lever. The switch shaft will ratchet into the new position which is will then be depressed by the brake lever when it is the brake is not being depressed.

the noise you hear is probably coming from the power booster for the braking system, i would ge it in and have it checked as soon as you can
