The shop put on a new compressor and I'm not sure if it was necessary. I read somewhere that the system needs to be purged and codes removed. the shop told me that it is the dash controls but I don't believe them. The compresson will not come on. Message refrigerant low a/c off.

Why do you think the guy at the muffler shop that does a/c could figure that out. He put die in there but told me that it's the IP control cluster and it cost $ 650 to put that in. It was working fine until the refrigerant got too low.

The compressor will not come on until the right amount of pressure is present in the systems low pressure side, this means u have a refrigerant leak and u are low on charge, the system will never go low unless there is a leak, have the leak fixed and then the system recharged

the dash control for the auto AC is a VERY common problem just did my neighbors 1996 Deville, so i think they maybe are right, the Cady dealer can run diagnostics on the control head, it has the capability to test itself, this would confirm the problem is in the dash control head.

Hi

Disconnect the negative battery lead for 30 seconds. Hook up the can of refrigerant and release the air from the line. Reconnect the negative battery lead. When you start the car, the system should pull in the refrigerant before the code sets.

Compressor on my 2004 Trailblazer went out and I have replaced it but it keeps kicking on and off. What could be the problem?

the compressor kicking on an off is normal...pressure builds up in the a/c system then the high pressure switch will cut off the compressor, when the pressure drops the switch will turn the compressor back on...but if the system is to low on charge or to high on charge the comperssor will cycle on an off at a much faster rate that normal...bring this to a quailfied a/c repair shop an have the pressure readings taken, this will tell if it is low or high on charge an may also find another malfunction in the system such as a orafis valve which can also cause this especally if u had a compressor failure there may have been parts of the compressor forced into the a/c system causing a restriction in the system

The air conditioner turns its self off and on when it is on it's very cold but it won't stay on. Help

Might be low on refrigerant, there is a switch that will cycle the compressor off if the refrigerant pressure gets too low on the low pressure side.

If you ever see frost blow out of the vents when the AC is working it's another indication of low refrigerant charge.

Is it hard to put in a a/c comperssor bypass pulley

no, the hardest thing is removing the old compressor. if all the refrigerant has leaked out unhook your hoses you can get some nylon ties or just wire them out of your way, remove compressor and install bracket with bypass pulley and your on your way, a little hotter in the summer though

Check the high and low pressure switches, either switch can cause the compressor not to run. Look for the switches in the high and low side lines. Hope this helps, let me know.

Dodge Ram AC not blowing cold

By pass both pressure switches one at a time with small wire or a paper clip. If comperssor kicks on replace the swich that you bypassed.
if not it could be the fan clutch ot the compressor. Compressor runs about $400.00

Typicial if the comperssor does not turn on then you need to have the system recharged. Once there is enough freon in the system the compressor will turn on.
