While I an not a mechanic, I had a similar experience with an 84 Corrola
with an automatic transmission. The transmission fluid is cooled by
flowing through the bottom of the radiator. Mine had corroded inside the
radiator and water was getting in the tranny. In your case some
transmission fluid may be leaking into the radiator or into the tranny.
In any event, the tranny had to be rebuilt, and the radiator replaced.
It was a very expensive repair! I would suggest looking into this
possibility to avoid potentially costly repairs.
