Are you asking about the housing that connects to the rad hose or on top of the block...if its where the rad hose connects you can pick one up from an auto wreckers for about $5.00 to $10.00

Bedroom a/c will not come on. thermostat lights come on but there isn,t a click on sound of any kind. I don,t know if the units 110 system has a problem or it is the thermostats a problem.

1- not sure why you posted this in an automotive forum but will try anyway.

Set thermostat down to as low as it will go and wait for 30 minutes to see if it is working. If this thermostat is ELECTRONIC you have to tell the thermostat you want this temperature. I.e. set it then tell it to hold that setting. Also previous comments were for a full sized home unit.
If this is one of them cheapy units you buy at wal mart or someplace like that then toss the unit and go buy a new one. Units are repairable but the cost to repair usually exceeds cost to replace. Sorry but that's the way it is in our disposable society now.

My 2005 Grand Prix has no heat and my gas mileage is awful. would changing thermostat fix problem. also at night not sure if this has anything to do with problem only my blue temperature arrows light...

A FAULTY THERMOSTAT STUCK OPEN WILL EFFECT GAS MILEAGE AND CAUSE POOR OR NO HEAT CONDITIONS.THERMOSTAT NOT A HARD JOB TO FIX.ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS DRAIN OUT SOME OF THE COOLANT IN A DRAIN PAN.DRAIN COOLANT LEVEL BELOW THERMOSTAT.IF YOU HAVE 3.8L ENGINE THERMOSTAT HOUSING ON TOP INTAKE MANIFOLD.IF YOU HAVE 5.3L ENGINE FOLLOW TOP RADIATOR HOSE IT WILL LEAD YOU TO THERMOSTAT HOUSING.REMOVE HOUSING THERMOSTAT INSIDE THE HOUSING.IF YOU HAVE WATER INLET ANDTHERMOSTAT IN ONE COMPLETE UNIT OR HOUSING YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE WATER INLET HOUSING WITH NEW THERMOSTAT.THIS TYPE UNIT WILL HAVE LONG PIPE WITH BYPASS PIPE WITH WATER INLET WITH THERMOSTAT. ONCE YOU REPLACE THERMOSTAT.IF YOUR RED ARROWS OFF AND HEAT STILL DONT WORK THE DEALERSHIP WILL HAVE TO CHECK IT OUT.WITH NEW THERMOSTAT AND PRESSURE CAP.MAKE SURE GET COOLANT LEVEL CORRECT.SEE HOW HEAT WORKS.IF NOT YOU HAVE A ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AT AC AND HEATER CONTROL SWITCH.

I need to kno what it costs to replace a thermostat in a dodge 2002 Stratus 4 cylinder car

I could not give you the going rate for your local shops, but if it is like most vehicles it should not cost more than an hour labor and the thermostat should only be a couple of dollars. You can do the job yourself. The thermostat is usually located at the end of the radiator hose that goes into the top of the water pump/engine. Thats the thermostat housing. It is usually held on by two bolts. You just take the radiator hose off the housing, undo the top bolts and the housing should come off. Scrap the old gasket off of the housing and the water pump/block with a razor , pop in the new thermostat and gasket then reattach everything and you should be good to go.

We need a diagram of the engine to find where the thermostat is

follow the top radiator hose back to the motor and there is the thermostat housing usually 2 or 3 bolts max usually ranging from a 10mm 12mm or 7/16 depending on the car.so you wanna follow back your top radiator hose, loosen the hose (screwdriver),loosen the bolts remove the housing the spring side allways goes into the block, clean the housing use a little blue silicone put the new gasket retighten everything leave your cap off while you fill and start the car, after filling to proper level leave cap off an additional 5min or so till the thermostat opens and send fluid thru to release any possible air pockets that could overheat your vehicle run for 2 days recheck the level and your all done

My 1999 Cadillac Eldorado north star is over heating, how can i change the thermostat? where is it located?

The thermostat is usually located on the engine end of the upper radiator hose.

Drain the radaitor of coolant, remove the upper radiator hose from the housing.
Usually a couple of bolts hold the housing in place, once the bolts are removed, seperate the housing from the engine, you should now see the thermostat, you will also discover it has a gasket to be replaced at the same time. make sure the surfaces are clean, use some gasket cement to hold the new gasket in place. reassemble the unit, reinstall rad hose, and refill radiator.

Hope this is od some help.
