Where is the transmission fluid dipstick located

May or may not have one. Depends on make, year and so on. Last few years some cars makers have gone to sealed transmissions, that don't have a dipstick. There is a factory way to check fluid, but it's not as simple as puling a dipstick.

Look very close in the engine bay, sometimes the dipstick is not easily visible. Then again, some have very brightly colored dipstick handles. If you don't see it, you may need to check with dealer or a shop who can tell you if you can check the fluid yourself. Cars are getting less owner-friendly all the time.

Honda 2005 software transmission update recall and failing smog test.

Try it. You have nothing to lose. It may be that after the upgrade the system needs to calculate the new input data and readjust the burning characteristics of the engine. Try to take it for a highway drive of 100 miles to give it enough statistics and then take it to Honda for the emissions test! In that way, you will KNOW if their explanation is BS!

Does the shift have to be on neutral to check the transmision fluid on a mitsubishi lancer 2002

Yes! But get someone in the drivers seat to step on the 'Brake' and move gear lever into 'Drive'. Leave in 'Drive' for 10-15 seconds then place into 'Neutral'. While in 'Neutral gear pull the dipstick out and check that the transmission fluid is at max level! Wipe dipstick with rag and repeat to be sure.If low then fill to max level.

Can,t locate dipstick to check transmission fliud levels

There is no dipstick. There might be a dipstick tube with a plastic cap. The dipstick needs to be purchased from a Chrysler dealer. I know it sounds stupid but it is the absolute truth. All the newer Chrysler are this way.

How do I top-up the transmition oil in my 1988 Mitsubishi Lancer. I can locate the dip-stick, but not the location for topping up the oil. Regards Ian

Use a funnel and put in the transmission oil through the transmission dipstick tube. Don't put too much. Insert transmission oil in increments just to be sure.

The transmission fluid is poured thru the transmission dipstick tube, you'll need a small funnel to do this. Do not overfill.

Whereis the dipstick for the transmission/transaxle located? i cannot find anydipstick for this. thnanks

It might sound strange, but the frantic truth is that most, if not all volkswagen cars have no dipstick for the transmission fluid,VW probably thought that the transmission fluid would never have any need to be replaced/refilled.

Good luck!

Where do I add the transmission fluid on a 2002 Mitshubshi Lancer?

You add the automatic transmission fluid through the dipstick/level check hole ( on the transmission) using a long skinny funnel. Be sure to only use Diamond ATF SP III or an equivalent. Mitsubishi transmissions require regular fluid changes (every 30, 000 to 35,000 miles) with the correct fluid or they will not shift correctly.

I have a 1995 Lancer Glxi with auto. tranny. The car is running at 80 but feels like going at 40. Sometimes it won.t move when you brake is off specially when uphill, but when you re-start the engine, there...

OK a couple of things to check.
  1. Check your Transmission fluid level is correct with the dipstick which you should find at the back of the engine by the firewall/back of the engine area. The dipstick in front is for your engine oil level.
  2. Its possible that you also have a shifting problem inside the transmission in what is call the clutch pack and modulator areas.
  3. Your electric sensors which operate the shifting in the mentioned above areas may be causing the problem.
  4. You could have a vacum leak to the shift modulator on your transmission.
As you can see it is a very technical area to try and find exactly whats going on but if your fluid level is low then filling it the the correct level on the dipstick should resolve this problem. Good Luck....
Let me know how or what you find.
