Hello gray1139. My name is Roger and I will help. You did not say which engine was in your car so i looked up both. The 2.4 -4L.with a vin. of 3 or 6 and the 2.7L with a vin.of4 or 8. Both gap at (0.039 to 0.043 in.) The plugs are located in the middle of the valve covers. They are under the coil packs. Each plug has its own coil. They should be held in by a 10 mm headed bolt. Remove the bolt unplug the wire pack.Twist and pull up on the coil. Should yon need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

I have an 03 kia optima lx my car will cut off while I'm driving. Can you please tell me what the problem is. I would very much appreciate your input on this matter

this is caused by the crankshaft position sensor located behind the timing belt. this sensor cuts off the power to the spark plug so the car won't start. it happened with my kia and then everything went fine!

Although is could be a fuel filter, it could also be a fouled spark plug, or a bad spark plug wire. Once you've ruled these things out, the problem could be the TPS (throttle position sensor). This controls your idling speed under all conditions. A faulty TPS will usually idle fine when the engine is cold but once warm, will tend to sputter and in some cases, stall.

How can i change my own spark plugs on my kia optima 2006

If it's a 4 cylinder then you have to remove the "coil pack" from the top of each spark plug. Should be a 10mm socket. then using a long reach spark plug socket, remove the spark plugs. Make sure to set the "gap" of the new ones before you install. Then re install the coil packs and secure them.

If it's a 6 Cylinder then remove the plug wires from the top of the plugs, then smae as above but you will probably use a spark lug socket and a short extension with the rachet, Once again be sure to "gap" the plugs before you install. best to do the plugs ONE AT A TIME, so that you don't mix up the wires.

Need to locate spark plugs on 05 Optima, can't seem to do so. Also need gap size for plugs.

Four bolts on that big plastic thing - 10mm, if I recall - and the cover over the engine comes off. Two are obvious, the other two are covered by coil assemblies. Not hard - though a tiny bit more work than older cars.

Where is the oil filter located on a 2006 Kia Optima Lx?

sgutowski283: the LX had 2 different engines which could have been in you car. However, KIA has engineered their engines to where the oil filter is located at the very front of the engine below the front crank pulley on both the 4 and 6 cylinder engines.
STAY AWAY FROM CHEAP OIL AND CHEAP OIL FILTERS! You engine will last for 200,000 miles easily, if taken care of.
Good luck, Give the folks at FIXYA some feed back if your happy with my assistance.
Thanks.
