Question about 2008 Chrysler Pt Cruiser
If the noise increases if you rev the engine suspect the serpentine belt. This would be more of a screech than a whine. The noise would be more pronounced on a moist morning. It comes from the belt slipping or being misaligned. Try a GoodYear Gaterback belt as a replacement. It has grooves cut into it to reduce noise. Be sure your tensioner is working correctly. Also, the starter can make a noise if it does not disengage properly.
