    Thanks

I will get a new alternator and follow your instructions as I don't think that it should be that difficult to do.

Hi,

If there is loud humming noise at alternator's side, then I would guess you have an alternator failure. The bearing is not serviceable you would have to replace the alternator as an assembly.

Regarding difficulty, it depends on person to person. I would rate it easy, however i cannot comment on level of ease for other people. Disconnect the battery, remove the 10mm nut on top of the alternator that connects the electrical connector, remove the 12mm adjusting bolt on the bracket just below the alternator and loosen the 14mm bolt on the alternator mount, move the alternator to get the belt off and then remove the 14mm bolt and the alternator will come out.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

2002 Saturn Vue V6 AWD sounds like an F1 car when i drive it. Very loud constant noise. Checked trans fluid and it was fine.

I have a 2002 saturn vue. Same thing..sounded like a jet engine ...loud humming as I accelerated . It got increasingly worse. It turned out to be the front wheel bearings. Replace them, now the noise is half as loud...have to do the rears also! 93,000 miles on it. Also, don't forget to replace the timing belt. It it goes too long and breaks, it will trash the engine...

Faint to loud humming noise while driving and turning...

Could be either a loose belt or you are low on power steering fluid,or the power steering pump could just be worn out.

Loud humming and clicking noise!

You could try looking at the idler pulleys or the air conditioner these 2 things can cause a noise like that, If you have to take the fan belt off make sure you draw a diagram so you know which way it goes, Sometimes you need to do this so you can spin the pulleys by hand to determin if it is one of them.

Loud humming while driving 2005 toy. camary. had tune up and transmission filter and fluid changed 2 months ago, was fine for a while but started humming loud again this week?

Please check your tyres.
if it is due to the tyres put the front tyres to the rear part.check if the noise moves to the rear.did you just replace the tyres?
there are brands offering cheap tyres which make noise .

Loud Sqeaul/screech from engine upon start up

could be your alternator. at start up. alternator usually has a big load because you just use your starter. it would recharge the battery and after a while the battery would be fully charge, the squealing noise will be gone.

check also all the belts if they are individual belts. use some belt dressings to eliminate the noise. sometimes the belt are just worn out and it would also make these noises.

tnx 4 using fixya,

No is not hard all you need to do is remove the tire and it haves four bolt on the back. one is kind of hard to take out do to not much space to work with.
