Question about 1999 Toyota Sienna

2 Answers

1999 Toyota van - Shakes when driven over 50 mph ..really starts to vibrate the head rests and when heading down the highway it get worse - shakes terrible. Could it be the rear tires are worn or possibly a tire weight fell off and now the tire is out of balance? Under 50 seems " ok " ..less shake noticed. We did get two new front tires to pass state inspection ..were waiting on replacing the back two tires , Now may have to ?

On 98 caravan 2.4 it starts to wobble at 40up to 50 mph mostly when accelerating when speed reached smoths also smooths out after 50 mph alll new including valves. could bad wires cause this?

How old are the good tires? These speeds usually mean belt or balance problem with tires...If new tires, they need to be re-checked for balance...and not out of round...also check for bent wheel...due to chuckhole? Sometimes a bent steel wheel can be hammered straight...hope this helps.

Shakes over 25

If it shakes at 25 mph then the u joints are worn or you have bent the drive shaft. Ujoint vibration starts around 30 and gets worse as you increase in speed.

Our 2001 toyota forerunner has a vibration on acceleration. It is a roaring noise at 50-60 mph. at 70 it seems to smooth out and not as bad. some vibration below 50 mph but not as bad as described above....

Hello, it's most likely a bad front wheel bearing or an out of balance driveshaft, worn u-joints, if the vibration shakes the whole truck have the driveshaft looked at for bad u-joints

Vibration when accelerating from stopped position

3 things; U-joints, (very likely) ,engine or transmission mounts, or mud under the engine or a 4th possibility would be tires (seperated or out of balance ) good luck

Shaking during acceleration between 25-45 mph

Yeah it sounds like your tranny is not healthy. What i have done in the past, is got a used transmission from an auto wrecker, and then got a written estimate to install it from a reputable repair shop to remove and replace.
All you need to do is find a tranny from a low mileage total loss vehicle. You know it'll be as good as any rebulit. Usually better. I have never seen a rebuilt last as long as origional.
So, your used tranny is 2 to 400 dollars. Installation the same, and you're on the road. Most auto wreckers warrantee their parts for at least 30 days. Just make sure the estimate to install is "written"

92 Dodge Grand Caravan - shakes!!!!!!

It sounds like you need a tune change at least the wires and plugs it also could be a worn or broke motor or tranny mount.

Engine knocking/vibration

A few different things could be causing this, most are internal engine components. First off, take your tires and have them balanced to make sure you didn't accidently fling off a tire weight when you hit a pothole. Next, if that is not it, either you have a blown head gasket, cracked rings, or bad rod/main bearings.
