I had a very bad luck, I bought a new junk Corsica for my daughter, and I took to the dealer at least 8 times for the cooling fan problem and cause my engine overheated, some electric sockets short, because the sockets melted, finally she has to put a 2 x 4 wood in her car, sometimes she has to open the hood and put the 2 x 4 and tight it and let the air go through, otherwise she can not come back home from riverside (UC Riverside ) to Studio City, LA. Depends how luck you are. Good luck.

Peter, I have a 1988 Corsica LT with a 3L V6 and 5-speed transmission; it now has 105,000 miles on it. I can't comment on the automatic trans., if this one is so equipped. If it has a manual, beware of the clutch. The clutch plate warps easily. I replaced mine at 67,000 miles (a bit early). I also needed to replace the computer twice, and the ignition coil once (it doesn't have a coil, but I just don't know the name of the device that provides the power to the plugs). The alternator went up at about 90,000 miles, and I replaced the cooling fan motor at about 100,000 miles. I don't think that this is excessive, considering I paid $3000 less than a comparable equipped Honda Accord in 1988. This not a rap on Honda, just a reason to consider a less ezpensive car, as I did.

I have an automatic 88 Corsica, When I'm driving everything works fine until I have to hit the break pedal suddenly, the motor accelerate and have to put the gear in Neutral so I can stop the car, after that every time I try to engage the drive position the car just jump and the ignition goes off, I have to wait almost half an hour for the car to works fine and engage the drive gear again.

Have an old 1988 Corsica that has sat idle for a couple of years. was used primarily in the last few years as a work car. Started to put the car back in operation. Found that a previous owner in doing a tune up ( changing spark plugs) found one that would not come out hence, the hole was made bigger and resulted in having the plug put back in and JB welded to hold it in. Well, needless to say I have had the head replaced and I have had to put in a fuel sending unit( Gas hand inoperable) and the car would run but then shut off after about 45 minutes running. Now the car won't start at all any suggestions?
