that, IS, an OLD pickup conversion.
the vehicle is based,as you know, on the hilux pickup, and with no weight in the back you are always going to suffer the same problem, the ONLY way to improve rearend grip is to fit road tyres not off road types to put more rubber on the road.and possible carry a pallet of bricks.
i am not being flippant or trying to take the p..s,had the same trouble with an "E"type jag a few years could always update the braking system, but it will cost.
personally when i worked for toyota i was always spinning the rear wheels, just pulling away.

Dash lights brake and battery are on always

running? at 800 rpm not 300?
brake failure, read oper. guide what does is say.
it says, first brake fluid level.

my guess is engine was stalled, or was idling at 300 rpm and you fail to noice that?
after all the charge lamp only comes on stall (or near) or bad ALT.

Have toyota hilux surf 1996, what should the rear brake balance be, also for park brake? Would this be the reason right front & left rear holding on?

The front brakes not releasing can only be restricted rubber
brake hoses & rusted caliper pistons,as well as rust on every sliding
surface & no lube, for calipers & pads

The rear is rusted & frozen parking brake cables

Rear wheels keep braking while Im driving,I adjusted the brakes,Change rubber cups but it still the same

Hi Ebellawa, How is the the braking system when you start driving? If they behave normally and then lock up after reapplication, the problem will be in the master cylinder, which will need replacement. The return seal is not allowing the fluid to return to the cylinder and pressure is building, becoming greater with each application of the brakes. Do NOT make any adjustment to the push rod behind the master cylinder. Regards Johngee10

I replaced my rear brakes. Does the emergency brake automatically adjust itself?

Yes.....and no. Emergency brake should have been checked during brake pad replacement.
Most do adjust to new return to factory adjustment setting due to new pads .

The E brake lever should be applying braking to the wheels after three clicks are heard during application of the Emergency brake.

Lift rear of car and apply emergency brake to the third click. Now both rear wheels should drag equally but not be locked up.
If not, adjustment required.

However, late model cars need a scanner to pull back the pistons and install pads.

Hello, If you have an automatic transmission put it in neutral and push the brake and while your doing that try to shift into 2WD. If it still won't move then try backing up about 30 feet and then try and shift. If you have a manual transmission make sure your pushing the brake while you're trying to shift and back up if needed. Good luck, let me know what you find.
