The most obvious question is,you have put the friction plate in the right way facing "front"and the spigot bearing is aligned with the clutch and primary shaft.??otherwise i can see no reason why it wont fit.do NOT use any spacers.if it fits, it fits......

Seat won't move forward, cant get to the rear bolts to remove seat because seat is back as far as it can go is there any way to move the seat manually

You must remove the seat from the power seat transmission then remove the drive motor from the seat transmission, move the seat to the desired position and reinstall the motor to lock it in place. The seat transmission is bolted to the seat mounting bracket/rails.

Unable to get transmission to seat up to engine do i need shims

I don't know what kind of transmissin you have, but if its automatic I am guessing you don't have your torque converter fully seated and engaging the pump. You should always put the torque converter in the transmission before installing it.
If its a manual transmisson, I am guessing you don't have your clutch disc aligned. Again, these are guesses because you have not given us much information to go on.

How to install a starter on 97 oldsmobile delta 88

Disconnect the positive Battery cable (You will lose radio and seat settings and wipe computer memory clean) Remove the two 15MM bolts and lower starter down and out of the transmission starter well mark wires to which posts they go then unhook wires do not lose the shims if it has shims, they are important keeps starter from staying engaged after motor starts. Installation is reverse order.
